Perhaps it is interesting because it's something that so rarely happens. People usually know more about themselves than others do so the thought of it being the other way around is intreguing.

Awwww he's so cute!
And in that doorway, are they seeing the past, or just some random spaceship?

Yep! After this story Flyspur knows much more about Rover's past than Rover does.
He is pretty happy caring for the young version of his friend. He hasn't got to look after kids since he left Jssfloon. Human babies, however, pose some different challenges than Jssfloon children. Like the urge to chew on EVERYTHING.

Ayup! And little rover is particularly good at getting into things.

I just looked at this and realized that's probably Rover's ship exploding.

Methinks you are right. You are the first one with that realization!
That's actually whey Flyspur looks so horrified.

It may be because I saw it after seeing some of your more recent stuff. I was working on my contest entry, a continuation of Alex's, and I was looking up info about your characters.
I wonder if Flyspur would tell Rover what he learned, once he gets adult Rover back. I'm guessing maybe seeing this made Flyspur not want to send little Rover back there, not when he knew what would happen to him. How awful, having to send a little kid back when you know that will happen to them.

Oh, MAN! I really can't wait to see what you do there!
That is EXACTLY the dilema Flyspur is having at that moment. He can't get his friend back unless he puts the baby back, but in doing so he is dooming him to deal with that situation all over again.

I need to do a drawing. I've got the story typed, but it needs editing so I probably won't get it up until after I get back from New Zealand in March. I have almost a thousand words.
I can see Rover stepping through the portal, just like he was before, and Flyspur running to him and apologizing profusely for something, and then refusing to tell Rover what he'd apologizing for. I imagine Flyspur would probably think he was being selfish, putting a kid through that so he'd have a friend.

I'm now stalking your comments about Deuce to make sure I keep things straight. Would Deuce have an evil laugh?

I thought so. I figure Rover's got a friendly laugh, so Deuce might have an evil one.

They would be similar, of course, but Deuces would be more sinister and mocking.

I feel sorry for Flyspur in Alex's piece. The poor guy only knows three humans and two of them are going to hate him. I wonder what it will get him thinking about humans.
Also, in this piece you drew, I'm guessing either the Rover flew into the middle of a war zone/controlled border or they ran into pirates.

Rebel-Rider In reply to chill13 [2016-02-23 22:10:12 +0000 UTC]
Yep. I could see Flyspur getting a fair hint that all humans may not be good after an incident with Deuce, though Rover would probably just say it was the cloning device.

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2016-02-23 22:37:20 +0000 UTC]
Oh, yeah. He will certainly realize that they are all not good guys. Although, after watching Rover's westerns I think he realized this already. Rover just reasons that since the good guys always win that by the time they reached spaceflight there would be no bad guys left. But Flyspur is a little more discerning."

Rebel-Rider In reply to chill13 [2016-02-23 22:45:43 +0000 UTC]
Probably. He's a bit more realistic than Rover. I've been wondering, does Rover understand that the westerns were about the past, or does he think a lot of that stuff's still going on?

I think Rover is under the impression that everything is pretty much the same except with the addition of higher technology. He has visions of trail drivers with GPS on their saddles and saloons with robot bartenders.

Yes. It is quite a traumatizing event for the both of them, just in vastly different ways. The monitor they are looking at is a time portal, the same one little Rover had stumbled out of a couple days earlier. It had shut down as soon as young Rover came through and the crew have been trying to reopen it to put the little tyke back where he belongs ever since. They now have gotten it to work but they need it to show the right time, the time right after he left. The portal fritzes and plays this scene. It's a revelation for Flyspur and a big scary explosion for little Rover............he won't remember it though.

GAAAAAAHAHAHAHA SO ADORABLE. I wants to huggle them so bad! (Even though baby-Rover would probably drool on me, and Flyspur probably feels kinda squishy/strange...I don't care! *HUGGLESSSS!*)

... Ahem. Sorry about that. I let my fangirl get the best of me again. Oops!

chill13 In reply to JurLLu [2014-02-13 05:35:25 +0000 UTC]
Yep, little Rover is a major drool monster. And hugging Flyspur probably would be quite unusual. He's so ridiculously thin and his bones give ever-so-slightly under pressure, his skin has a rubbery texture and that hair is liable to be a bit stiff and prickly.
Flyspur: *looking a little squished and confused* Um...I finished those quantum mechanics problems...

AHHHHHH CHILL13 YOU REMEMBERED!!! I iz so flattered.
Most people wouldn't bother to keep track of that kind of out-of-story roleplaying, esp across pictures when you don't have the previous comments to remind you, and when it's all unofficial and not in any particular context. You make me feel special by remembering-- shows you really pay attention.
- Oh PS - am I allowed to call you by the name you list on your profile? It just feels rather impersonal and therefore kinda awkward to refer to you by your username. (I childishly wish I could be your real-life friend, so am saddened by that barrier, lol.) But I TOTALLY understand if you'd rather I not, for sake of privacy and stuff or because you think I'm a psycho and you want to keep me as far away as possible lol. You've listed your first name (or *A* first-name; whether it's real or not I guess I'll never know! haha) so I wasn't sure if you'd mind. But wanted to check first anyways.
^crazy-long rambly comment is rambly & too long. As usual. I so sorry. X(
I also reeeeaaallly really wanted to respond to Flyspur, but I couldn't think of anything clever or that wouldn't catalyze a continual chain of responses and essentially its own side-story. And I didn't want to put you through all that, seeing as though I would probably keep going forever, and the last thing I want to do is wear you out.
