Rover: That easier on your feet, Little Missy?An illustration for my Hi Ho Hyperdrive story 'Outlawed' Outlawed: part 1
Dust stirred and swirled with the hum of displaced air as the small shuttle deployed its landing struts and lowered itself onto one of the many the brightly colored docking pads that sprouted from the sides of the tall cylindrical building. The little bronze colored vessel settled itself onto the flat surface. As its engines powered down and the dust settled an emblem could be seen on its side--a small feathered arrow underlining the word ‘Tonto’.
There was a metallic complaint of under-oiled hinges as a hatch in the belly of the Tonto slid open and a ramp unfolded. Before the walkway had even touched the ground a pair of well-worn cowboy boots, complete with polished spurs and buckles, hit the colorful turf of the docking platform.

They really ARE cybernetic implants. She has an asthma-like condition and the implants keep her airways open...but, as she's a growing girl they need reconfigured every once and awhile.

He likes kids a lot. Really he's just a big kid himself. Kids are kids to him, no matter how big their noses are.

I can't help but wonder what sort of dad Rover would make. I suspect a pretty good one.

I think he would make a good dad. He's kind, protective, loves kids and can be a lot of fun. I think he would be pretty clueless about any kind of discipline, though. He's such a big kid himself he'd be likely to be a little lax in that department. And he is also not very cautious or observant...two qualities that are pretty manditory for good parenting. But he'd have his crew to help him out. So he wouldn't be flying something like that solo.

Judging by her little horns, was she partially inspired from what's-her-name... Naomi from VOY? Kinda reminds me of Mary Ann with that hair too.

Yes! Those horns were inspired by little Naomi. I love that cute little girl. I loved that she was one of Voyager's crew. And, yeah, Mary Ann's pony tails.

I've only seen images of her, don't remember seeing her in the few (maybe only one full one, The 37's) VOY episodes I've seen. I think I first actually heard of her in your A Fateful Trip.
Anyway, it all mixed together to make Peg a cute little character. I wonder what Peg looks like when she's grown up.

Naomi is pretty adorable and even has an episode almost entirely to herself called "Once Upon a Time", dealing with her mom crashing on an away mission and one of her programs in the holodeck.

I'll have to look tat one up, see if the full thing is on YouTube. Makes me think of that one TNG episode where that kid, uh, Jeremy, loose his mom on the away teem in an explosion, and the planet's energy inhabitants try to replace her. Anyway!

Well, sort of like that. Naomi's holodeck is more like a storybook with a water and a tree character she goes and plays in in her free time. It's made specifically as a child's story. Since her mom crashed and they don't know if they will be able to find her Naomi's godfather, Neelix looks out for her, but since he lost his family a long time ago he doesn't want to tell Naomi what's going on. He's afraid that some of her holodeck stories are too intense for this 'lost little girl', but she's a lot tougher and smarter than he seems to think she is.

It's hard for the little thing to keep up with those who have either longer or many more legs than her. Rover doesn't mind helping out.
