"What? I'm busy." Dan huffed and flicked Henry's hand from his shoulder,
"Cool." Henry shrugged, "But like, I have a statement."
"You.. you know what 'statement' means, right..?" Dan asked, glancing over his shoulder. He opened his mouth to continue but Henry spoke first,
"I bet I love you more than you love me." he announced, folding his arms proudly. Dan considered just agreeing and carrying on with what he was doing, but despite the fact he'd already seen through the bait he took it anyway.
"Uh. No." he turned slowly, "You can't prove that."
"I don't have to." Henry shrugged a second time, "It's obvious."
Dan scowled, "No it's not." he paused for a moment and looked down, noticing the glint of his engagement ring under the light, "I was the one that proposed." he pointed out.
"But I was the one that asked you out." Henry argued, pricking up his ears. Dan rolled his eyes and looked away. He knew there would be something he could say, but he couldn't think what it was.
"Well." He paused, eyebrows furrowed, "I agreed to get a stupid tattoo for you." he turned his eyes back up and waited for the inevitable response.
"I got a 'stupid tattoo' a year ago." Henry tilted his head to show off the tattoo on his neck, "Did you ever find out why?" he asked, almost tauntingly,
"You wouldn't tell me." Dan pouted, "So no."
"But you didn't figure it out anyway..?" Henry blinked a few times, "I kinda thought it was obvious."
"Well it wasn't." Dan shook his head, "So why did you get it?" he asked.
"A week before I got it I realized something important."
"Wh..? Was that a hint..?" Dan squinted his eyes slightly, "If it was it sucks."
"Nope." Henry grinned and shook his head, "I guess it doesn't matter then." he shrugged again, but stood waiting for Dan's reply.
"Alright." Dan paused, "I guess not." he started to turn around,
"I had a crush on you." Henry admitted quietly. Dan turned his head back,
"Wait. For real..?" He asked, "That's why?"
Henry nodded, smiling at the counter top behind the shorter cat, then looked up, "Which means I win, right?" Dan frowned, then paused.
"No. I let you live here with me." he argued. Both were quiet for a moment, Henry uttered a 'good point', and looked down, thinking.
"Oh." He looked up suddenly, "I talked to you." he folded his arms again, feeling victorious.
"Huh..? I talked to you too." Dan raised an eyebrow, "I'm talking to you now."
"No. I mean I talked to you first." Henry explained, opening one eye. Dan couldn't remember the details exacty, but he decided he might as well argue his way to a win.
"I saw you first."
"No. I saw you first."
"Pretty sure that was me."
"No. It was me. "
"It was me."
"No. Me."
"Me."
"Me."
"You?"
"You. Wait. No--"
"I thought so." Dan smiled slightly and turned around. Maybe not fair and square, but he'd won. And that was what mattered.
