Great picture Chris! Super lifelike shading and color. Out of all the artists on DA, you are THE one person that truly gets Velociraptor right. It's pretty much your signature dinosaur (kind of like Futalognkosaurus is mine ) Although I still prefer the cobalt blue on white color scheme of your earlier Velociraptors.

Thanks a lot, Nima, that's a big compliment Yes, it is my favourite dinosaur, quite obvious, right? XD

I love the melanistic one! The models are really accurate and the feather arrangement is very good! But I suggest you a bit more fantasy in the plumage, even if a conservative plumage is perfectly acceptable!

Thanks. Yes I should have been more creative with that one. I may change it someday, after all, I made it in greyscale version as template.

But be a bit leisurely on the Dinosaur feathering is also good, look at this one: [link] The plumage is not extravagant but I think is pretty good :3

Detail is superb especially of the feathers and can really be appreciated at this resolution. Nice to see them at a proper scale too after the JP scale. The eye is a little too simple I think compared to the rest of the image.

The top one seems leucistic rather than albino, due to the black claw, dark feet, and blue eyes.

ChrisMasna In reply to Spikeheila [2013-02-06 01:27:09 +0000 UTC]

It seems you're right, but i can't make those parts whiter without losing contrast. Didn't know about the claws, though. Thanks, Spike.
