This is actually the second version of "Hang gardens" which was submitted ages ago. However I decided to change the features of the island itself to keep it interesting. And I will continue to alter it in future versions as well ( but I wont wait such a long gap between them again ) However I will carefully choose an appropriate landscape to suit the weather and time of day which will vary in the next ones. Here I was going for a sunrise theme so to make sure that it wasn’t mistaken for a sunset ( the two can look familiar ) I put in traditional hot air balloons often seen at early dawn as well as the cool blue shadows of a passed night which will be warmed up by the rising sun.Wow ! a DD ! I never saw that coming... ThankYou very much ^gucken and `nighty !...and to all those that commented and faved this piece...Your contribution has helped me break the 1000 fav mark !. I'm glad You love it that much.

Yes I really was above my usual standard for the time when detailing this one, including the sun. All the follow-up ones didn't quite seem to have the same influence of people. This is probably one of my proudest submissions from my early years

It's absolutely amazing how you respond to each comment. Even on your profile page. Incredible. I love how sincere you are.
On your profile page I noticed in your journal you stated this deviation was the "Deviation that's closest to my heart."
So of course I had to take a look at it. I particularly like the contrast on the clouds on the right. How they flow in layers and have deep and light blues against the white.
The clouds in the top left are also beautiful. I love how they rise as smoke, and still have a small hole in the middle, having the clouds contrast against the sky.
Together both corners of the clouds caress the whole picture and create an even composition.

I respond to as much as I can, really short comments though don't really warrant a response I will admit. But one thing I always hated here is how so many artists ignore comments, even detailed ones like yours. I have no respect for deviants like that even if their work looks real cool. It really isn't that hard responding to at least some comments
The clouds are my favourite aspect here too, though I still like the island even for my standards today

I absolutely agree.
It's very discouraging when artists don't reply to their comments; it feels as if they disregard those that take the time to look at their art. It's nice you understand that.
How large is the original piece?
And do you use multiple mediums or solely one program to create this?

Exactly, if my comments get ignored enough times I stop bothering. Maybe that's why popular artists often have their support dry up after a while
The original is quite small, I work bigger now, this one is 1555 pixels wide originally. Now I average around 4500. This here did use some very basic 3D (island) and some stock photo's too (clouds) both were painted over quite heavily though since even when I made this I preferred to be labelled a digital painter than photo-manipulator.

oh, if it wasn't for you journal I wouldn't have known this existed! It's really nice, I love the lighting. The clouds are also really nice, really poofy. The floating island itself is fun to look at, I really like the windmill, and what are those red batches on the island?

I like the opportunity to bring back older artwork in the spotlight. A vast majority of viewers rarely bother going past the first page or two

Thanks! the night giving way to a new day is definitely the feeling I wanted. If I was ever able to wake up early enough, I'm sure sunrise would be my favourite time of the day
