All hail the Bug Queen in her slimey glory!(I kinda support the fan theory I read somewhere, that Chrysalis is Queen Rosedust from G1,
consumed by greed, evil and jealousy, OR one of her Flutter Ponies. Resulting in this bug like succubus...)

This is great work on the vicious queen in all her nightmarish glory. I think you really captured her true nature and personality fantastically: vicious, ugly, decaying, yet still powerful and somehow compelling. No wonder ponies fear her so much! Nice choice of a foul, acrid background for her too.

I've been considering which Flutter Pronies I should draw but haven't been able to decide. I'm trying to figure out a simple Christmas image featuring Megan and Sundance and maybe one or two other ponies. But I've been struggling with Megan. Sundance came out lookng cute though....at least so far.

Especially since it will have Megan in it (I don't get the whole hate thing, she never really bothered me in the old series)...Hmmm yeah, picking one of the Flutter Ponies can be a bit hard, they're all exciting to draw. But luckily there weren't that many of them, I'm sure you'll have your pick

Ah Morning Glory. And Forget Me Not. I see them as male Flutter Ponies....same as Wind Drifter. They can't ALL be girls...but maybe I could invent some babies and other stallions.
With Megan the only thing I didn't like about her is the voice actress and the rushed stoey lines. She was much better in the pilot and the special. I liked that style of animation so that's how I want to draw her. I just can't find any good refs for her.

Interesting theory on her backround. I always see her as Equestria's one and only true villain, and a cross between being a photo negative of Twilight Sparkle.

Well, I kinda known Tirek from way backΒ (G1) but I treat him as an old villain, that could stay in the old series. As far as G4 and Equestria go, I also see Chrysalis as a real villain.
Kids show and all, but there seriously need to be more bad guys like her, elegant and evil, without being 'converted' by the end of the episode :/

Yeah the in modern society they don't teach us that their is such a thing as true evil, ( Megatron, Unicron, DarkKat, Makuta as some examples.) Β I just find it very misleading that mlp seems to give off the vibe that everyone is capable of ALWAYS going from bad to good- Just very misleading, ( And on that note, I'm waiting on Sunset to relapse, like Discord did/WILL again.)

I know. I get that people want to plant in fresh young minds that all evil in the world can be turned into good, but what if it can't? What if someone is just born with that thirst for evil, and there are COUNTLESS examples in the world we live in, even recently. Like you said, very misleading. I would rather introduce a villain that cannot or doesn't want to turn good, so that future generations can deal with the fact that good does not always prevail, teach awareness, but not necessarily ultimate violence when dealing with it.

Actually, I kinda focused on the 'atmosphere' in the pics you sent earlier (does that make sense?), it did help me with the background, yes.

Hmmm...how should I say it...Ok, you know me, I don't really fully know what's going on in Starcraft, especially regarding this chick encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/ima⦠but this particular image, for me, had an atmosphere of fear, cunning, wit and smartness, a kind of flare and somwhat evil. This one image alone has this air about it, that made me think "I wouldn't really want to mess with this woman". And I guess that kinda wraps what I was aiming for with Chrysalis.
I don't know hoe to better describe it in english at this point, but I hope some of it came through

I imagine that when 'da power of love' sent Chrysalis somewhere over the horizon, she needed time to heal herself and made something like a big cacoon (?).
This would be the image minutes after she finally regenerated and got out (slime all over the place)
