Imbolc is just around the corner. It's time to light some candles, lighten up your home and await the arrival of spring (although I'm quite happy that there is finally some snow where I live). The month of February derives its name from the latin word and associated ritual "Februare", which was a purification ritual in Roman times. In my and other regions February is normally one of snowiest months, hence it's alternative Snow Moon. In Germany there is quite an interesting old name for this month, which is "Hornung". Hornung refers to the time of the year, when red deer shed their antlers (I drew a roe deer skull 'cause I had it on hand - but they shed their antlers usually in November).

Are there some interesting names, customs or associations with this month where you live? I would love to know
