I like your modifications of the rowboats, the new sky ( you talk about them?) But it's so discreet!
I think it would be much easier to modify your trees! You did seem interested in the idea of adding a "white lady", asleep in a deck chair?
Your painting would get a little air of Puvis de Chavannes, or Maurice Denis....
Would it be difficult? What is a "prone figure"???????

Yes, probably more inteesting than additional
additions to the Barques,
and, it would not be hard to extend this scene
on the left perhaps, and add, a seated lady,
preferably thou... any templates for that
available svp?
I'm sure that you know what a "prone"
figure is...that might be easier in some ways
than the lady in a chair, depending.,...

Sidney, would you consider ( from my own painting) to introduce , between the small tree and the path(??) the outline of a white-dressed woman, sleeping on a white deck chair, in a languid pose, something like that? I can make a drawing? Have you another idea?

I'm going to try to send you a drawing of my idea.

Certainly I would love to do that...
But, I want to widen the
left side of the canvas,
and, I would prefer that figure
to be looling on the left
in that newly-created space...
...does that make sense?
I would use the colors and shapes
that are now on the right side,
and manipulate them
somewhat, to create
more content on the left...
I will need you to create the
reclining figure, which I can then add...
I will postpone the concept of
a prone figure, until
after the lady in white
has been added...

You say that you love landscapes.
Many foreigners travelling in France say that it's the country which offers the greatest variety of landscapes, and that, leaving Alsace or Normandy, they wonder
if they are still in France, when arriving in Provence, or Savoy.... Have you stayed in France long enough to have had this feeling? ( Beyond Ermenonville...)

More depth and mystery in this B&W picture than in the colored painting I did.

Can you get my painting and digitally improve it with " a beige prone figure"? Please, do it! ( what does mean prone?)

Did you finally try to add a "beige prone figure", with or without an abstract touch? Please, do it, if easy?

....how could I forget this exchange????
....still some good ideas.... I liked this
of yours a bit more more than the rowboats...
...but yes...I had forgotten...!
....you didn't seem to much like the most recent
prone figure I did, but, it could be made to match
very well the color palette here ....

This photo does your work much more justice than the earlier
photo I saw - and I already knew this was good when I saw that earlier photo...you have added a beautiful dimension to the stark/contrasty black and white. These greens and greys and oranges seem new here... although the greys remind me of the houses, especially the views of the Authier house.
How did I not see this until now? (Da gremlins?)

You mean more color to the bark of the trees? I would't dare to decide that way, when they are so pale on the pict! You know i'm not bold...just timorous...
I wish I saw your own version of Sidney's "Trees long ago"... Why not to try?

Ty Neha! Did you see the B&W picture of Artin2007, of which I have been inspired? I was trying to "abstract" it. I'm not convinced to have reached my aim, in spite of the generous compliments of JohnPatience...

I'm wrong. It's a Dofaust picture:/ Trees long ago / See up the comments. ( You know that Dofaust = Artin2007) Do you think that JohnPatience is right?
I'm never convinced: I'm certainly a good, indeed exceptional artist!!!

I don't think that you failed in your ambition for abstraction Michele , this has very strong abstract qualities.

John!! Are you sure? What makes you talking that way? What qualities????

JohnPatience In reply to ClairObscur16 [2017-07-31 10:03:14 +0000 UTC]
Yes.
You have simplified all of the elements of the picture and resolved them into shapes.
Light doesn't play much part so everything is flatened, again this adds to the effect of abstaction.
