What do you know offhand about 7.62x39 incendiary cartridges - in terms of indentifying markings...?

I don't think the cartridge is marked, just the bullet tip.

There is some information here: [link]

Waren't Russian round had a green lacquerer finish ? I remember I picked up some of the casings after rifle salute on 9th of may.... I was still a little kid = /

Oh and I also have surplus 5.45x39 Russian rounds from '85... they have green casing as well....

I am not 100% sure either way - there certainly were greenish coloured rounds like the top one, but I don't know if they were ALL like that - if you have definite information then let me know - it's easy enough to change the colour...

Yeah Russia uses steel, green colored casings, they don't use brass in their normal ammo... as far as I can remember only mosin ammo was brass...

I know that Yugoslavia produced brass rounds...

I gonna try to find a reference

I guess the type of ammo that interests me most is the 12.7 x 99 mm round

Just got to thinking... if I ever should be mortally wounded by some round, a BMG one might be convenient for making that not last too long. On the other hand, the ones who'd get to bury me probably wouldn't be too pleased with the results.

No need to worry about such things anyway, eh.

Coming soon...

Indeed not, and I for one would not like to be hit by any size bullet...

There is a story that I`m not sure if it is fact or fiction, but the ciggarete factories have the potential to quickly change production to 7,62 bullets in the case of a war because they share the same size.

Packaging companies, maybe?

Pretty sure that would be fiction - the machinery and processes involved are very different. Of course any factory floor can have new machinery installed, and a lot of car factories built aircraft in WW2.
