Description So this is officially my first work with my new tablet. I'm actually very pleased with how it turned out, though the clouds could use more work (they look like melting marshmallows ). But, I was ready to finish this piece up and move onto something else . Besides, my main focus was on the angel and the baby.

Tools:
Cintiq 12"

*sneak in* *inches towards the ribbon* >.> <.< >.< *snatches it* MINE!

ANyway lol apart from me wanting that ribbon (way obsessed with them and I think you know that having seen my gallery XD) this is really good ^^ the anatomy on the arms of the angel though look a tad....off maybe? like just stiff? I dunno, maybe it's cause I've been staring at my pics too long (works in progresses only) finding all my upsies and downsies lol, but seriously great job, and I'm still going to save up money to get my a Cintiq (I really did start drooling over it)

Haha! *throws out ribbons all around... and gets hopelessly tangled up* Actually, that brings up a very funny memory of my wedding! *Cue screams as people run to escape the impending personal story* For the end of my wife's and my wedding, where they usually throw rice or blow bubbles or whatever, well we had these pop-streamers. Basically it was a party popper with really long streamers, ribbons, and confetti that shot out. Sounds cool! But with over 100 people doing that at the same time, it turned into a huge spider-web of ribbons that literally held us in place to where we couldn't move XD. They had to get out scissors to cut us loose haha XD...

*Motions the all-clear for residents to come out of hiding and resume their daily (or nightly) routines*

Aaaanywho, I agree very much that the arms look too stiff. I tried standing in front of a mirror and holding my arms out, but what I should have done was watched my wife hold our baby to see exactly how to get the look right. Note to self - need to use more real life influences on drawing postures . Thanks for pointing that out!

And best of luck with saving up for your Cintiq!! I'm working on another picture in OpenCanvas with it, and I found out that my brush strokes still feel much better in OpenCanvas than in Photoshop for some reason. Maybe I'm just too used to using that program lol XD

OMG!! XD That's hilarious! I'm still debating on whether or not I want to really get married (the thought of kids scares me, and the thought of actually having to share my time with someone else *leGASP* lol jk jk,) But mad I'd love to see that.

Your welcome i think....(hope that doesn't sound snobbish) what I'd do is get a camera and take pictures of poses, or look on DA for pics with similar poses. You can normally find really great pics that way.

And thanks for the encouragement, I don't think my Wacom will last all that long, I mean it's doing great now, I'm just hoping it doesn't die on me. I've only had it for about a year....sadly the pen is cracked on one side from my constant butterfingers.

Oh man, now you're making me feel old, but I still have to say that you're young and have plenty of time to date and find that man of your dreams before you decide if marriage is for you . And don't let it worry you; as long as you're yourself and your partner loves you for who you are unconditionally, and you love them unconditionally, then the skies the limit when looking at the rest of your lives together . And hey, there's always a chance you too can have a crazy spider-web exit at your wedding reception! XD

That's a fantastic idea about taking pictures of poses. I think I asked my wife about posing for me back before she got pregnant... Maybe I'll try seeing if she's up for it again now that she's starting to feel better from her surgery (c-sections actually heal up pretty fast o_O). Plus, she was on the dance team in college, so maybe she'll know of some cool poses .

Eek, a cracked pen for your tablet is never good news x_x... Hopefully it'll hold out on you until you can get a new tablet! Plus, those pens are crazy expensive XD I remember when I looked at a replacement pen for my old tablet (since the tip had become super sharp from me using it so much), I was surprised to find out it cost more than half the value of the tablet itself...

Oh, and I used to have butterfingers with my old tablet pen too since the plastic was just too slick on it. I love the pen that came with my new tablet because it has one of those rubber grip pads that goes around it . Feels *much* better when holding it, and it doesn't slip around!

lol, well maybe, spider-web exit does sound funny ^^ maybe I should sketch it out XD

Yeah c-sections then to do that lol, and good to hear she's recovering well ^^. Just don't make her stretch too too much, it might hurt.

Yeah...it's not really big, and it's nothing too serious, just a little crack from my countless dropping or it rolling off the table....*forgets to place it back in the stand all the time* that or I lose it like....everyday at the least 15 ties....once i lost it for three days and I started crying, found it underneath my bed covers on the floor started cursing it out, hasn't gotten as lost since XD

I have both butterfingers and absent minded issues....I sent my MP3 player throught he wash the other day....sadly I dunno if it works or not...but it angers me to know that I did that.

Haha yeah, I used to always misplace my pen XD. One time in between moving from one old place to another, I ended up forgetting where I had packed it and didn't rediscover it until some 3 months later XD (that's also partly why there's a huge time-gap in my art haha).

And I understand you completely about being absent minded x_x Lol, that's why my iPod Nano no longer works - I left it in my jeans and , just like you, sent that through the wash! XD Being an engineer and having a dead electronic in my hand, I did what I normally do - I dissected the deceased Nano! >:3 That was actually pretty fun haha XD Er... I think I'm starting to ramble now... x_x

XD No way! I'd totally love to do that. Just I'd lose everything as soon as I tried XDDD and awe man that's gotta suck having lost it for that long....

Claymore32 In reply to diaboso [2008-02-26 17:42:11 +0000 UTC]

Lol, this was a result of the downtime in between baby crying/diaper changing during the evening and night when I couldn't get any sleep XD. Of course, I really rushed the background (again...), but I was ready to call this one finished and move onto something else hehe. I may revisit this in the future after I get more experience coloring clouds. I'm glad you like it though!

Wow pretty good.
Though I still think the head of hair is too thick. Great blending and colours however

Claymore32 In reply to Turisse [2008-02-26 17:35:14 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! It's funny because when I first drew the frame of the head, the hair looked like it sat pretty well over the back curvature of the skull. However, I think the lineart of the top of the hair ended up making it look a little too flat and, like you mentioned, thick. Need to work on my head poses more ^^. I'm glad you like the colors though! hehe

Man, I wish I had a tablet.. -sniff-

I love all the detail here, especailly all the shinyness with the ribbon and hair............
Although the clouds are kinda too puffy and white... AHHHHHH!! THE WHITENESS! IT BURRRRRRNS!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Claymore32 In reply to Retartedpikachu [2008-02-26 17:32:16 +0000 UTC]

You should definitely get one! It really is a great investment

I'm glad you like the details, at least on the body and ribbon haha. I really half-arsed the clouds, which I shouldn't have done since the angel is already detailed. I may revisit this one in the future after I practice coloring clouds more x_x
