I'm a child of mainstream media, I'm attracted to bright lights and colors XD I always get pulled into documentaries though, and I love history! especially the middle ages of england and ancient civilizations.
I think that's why I like Hetalia so much, it's a manga/anime about the nations of the world personified as characters

when i worked as a designer i understood that WoW mass effect is not mine. when everyday many client tell you: Make something bright and cool according to the mainstream and sooner or later you're sick an tired of contemporary tendences and their influence on every humanbeing in a rather big town.

I think I get what you're saying. While I'm part of the masses, I like to think I have limits or standards. when you really look at it, everything you see is the same: Bright, colorful, shiny, full of violence and sex, the whole bit. what I like and look for are meanings beyond just the looks of somethings. I appreciate the story or the characters more then the look for example. some of the things that pop up, like "the Hangover" I'll watch for a luagh and then never see it again becuase it doesn't mean as much to me as a deeper film. The reason I stay with the fandoms I'm in are becuase the stories and characters and art keeps improving.

yes, i really understand you! but for me i cannot figure out some favourite things. sometimes i'm fond of darkness and evil creatures. sometimes i forget it and all in bright colours and smiles) tastes like the whole life, like a zebra - black/white/black/white. it'll be a pity when everything will be gray and the same

I don't see that as a bad thing, my favorite color changes all the time for example, I say it keeps things exciting. If you only liked one thing all your life imagine everything you would miss out on! That's something I like about mass media, you can always find something new buried in the masses
