Description The Japanese monks of Japan wear these grey robes as opposed to the saffron that is seen in Tibet. This monks was begging outside of Osaka castle, and it was deppresing. People kept passing him by without even looking at him, and so I gave him some coins. In return he blessed me. I was so tickled by this I kept giving him coins and he kept blessing me--I have a feeling it had something to do with fertility, but I was having trouble really understanding.

it is depressing how horrible people have become, how unimportant charity and respect have become. is it because the man has devoted his life to his faith and that they feel donating to a man of faith is ridiculous or that he is just someone who couldn't make it as anything else? this makes me angry and as a buddhist i really shouldn't be...but still...
