Description    Miles into the journey, the large lion had left Xeriah while she slept. She woke to dusk creeping heavily onto her. With no idea where she should go, she looked to the skies, "What now? First the pale one, now this one?"
A rustle from behind her disturbed her thoughts, "Hey, sis."
"Sciath?" Xeriah was shocked to see her brother, was he alone?
   "We need to talk.."
Xeriah's ear twitched, Sciath sat down beside her. The two looked to the night sky, as he spoke, Xeriah noticed for the first time how his pelt glowed in the moonlight, Had he always been this ...
   "So we need to go.."
How come I've never noticed before? she looked at her own pelt, Mine isn't that shiney..
"Xeriah.. Xeriah! Are you listening to me?"
   "Hm? Oh! Yeah.." she answered.
Sciath glared at his sister, "Then where do we go?"
   Xeriah blinked.
Sciath sighed, "You're hopeless, sis." he stood and began walking toward the horizon.
   "Wait... where are you going?"
"I have something to do..." he looked at his paws. "Just follow the Giga Star. You should be closer to the murky lands by morning."
"Sciath, wait."  both young travelers turned to see Xan and Dwala.
"Dwala!" Xeriah ran to her sister, drinking in her scent, she noticed that her pelt glowed as well.
"I need to tell you something... all of you." Xan's gaze swept over the three.
He told the three of a war in the south, he had heard it from those who travel. He knew lions from the southern areas and knew they needed his help. It would take a while to get there, however the three could not follow. He told them to keep moving, he would find his way to them in time.
   "You can't go!" Dwala wailed.
"Yeah, who's gonna be the one to tell Xeriah to keep her paws straight?" Sciath asked.
"Uhhu!" Xeriah acted appalled. "More like who's gonna tell you to keep your paws straight?" Xeriah shouldered her brother, he swatted at her ear. The two soon became a rolling ball of fur, kicking dust up from the ground as Dwala and Xan watched. Dwala giggled at her siblings' immaturity, but Xan only thought back to when the three were cubs- he had placed himself in their lives to protect them when the lion who fathered them found a new mate and abandoned his duties as their father. He loved these kids, he looked at Dwala and for the first time, he felt something strong kick its way into his chest, she had his eyes, his nose. Maybe he was only seeing things, looking at the young lioness, he longed to be their father. I could've been... if only she had...
"Get off me!" Sciath growled as Xeriah pinned him- chin first- to the ground. "You're heavy!"
Xeriah sat on Sciath's back with a hard FLOP that knocked the wind out of him.
Xan laughed at the two for a moment, he was proud of them. Not just for the training- but for the value they held each other as, the love they shared for each other, the bond they had kept over the months. You three have done well, Dwala- your smarts have proved to be an incredible asset to your survival, Sciath- you're fast enough to keep close to a cheetah who was chasing the same prey as you, Xeriah- even though company has been scarce on your journey you have proved that a lioness does not need a constant companion to travel with. I am truly proud of you all. Xan stood and began to walk away, the three stood side by side as he went. He looked over his shoulder at them, "Dwala, Sciath. Trust Xeriah, she will lead you to the lands you search for. Xeriah, even though decisions may be hard sometimes, I know you'll do what's right." with that Xan walked away into the night, leaving the three on their own.
