Description    The young lioness wandered aimlessly, crossing lands and passing through new territories for weeks. She traveled alone after the pale lion had left her side. He traveled with her for a few days, getting to know her, feelings for her had began to stir in him- thus forcing himself to leave her alone. He was meant to guide the wayward child, not love her. He taught her some hunting tricks, she taught him how to have fun. He showed her different paths from what she had learned from her pride, she told him of the borders and the lioness she seen murder her grandfather.
She came across a clearing, night fell fast. She didn't even have time to hunt so she kept moving. Wading through a pond as the moon shone bright on her, she paused to take a drink when she seen the face of her grandfather's killer. She snarled but her anger turned to grief when she realized the water was clear enough to see her own reflection. She stood in silence, her head down, and began to cry. She was still a child. Her grandfather had named her future alpha. A great burden to bear, a big name to live up to- large paws to fill. She hadn't wanted it, but his word was law. Her cousin, Binamu, had wanted the chance to lead the pride more than she did. And now he had his wish. She looked back in the direction of her pride's land, longing for a chance to tell them what happened without being accused or interrupted, but she knew they would never listen- they had never accepted her due to her Northern blood, so why would they start now?
With a sigh, she moved out of the pond, sick of seeing the resemblance to the Northern lioness. A foul smell crossed her senses, faint, but it was there. She sniffed the air, following the smell. She faced the horizon, a dark sky- cloudless yet darker than the sky above her.
She frowned and began to walk in the direction of the darker skies, Maybe if I-
   "Xeriah!"
Xeriah turned to see her sister, Dwala, and their brother, Sciath. For the first time in weeks a smile crossed her face as she ran to greet them, "Where have you guys been?"
Sciath looked down into the water as he passed it, "You don't wanna know.." he met his sister gaze.
"We triling you." Dwala snapped at her brother's stubbornness.
   Xeriah blinked, "But..."
"Staying down wind." a deeper voice butted in before Xeriah could finish.
"Xan!" Xeriah ran over to the large brown lion and nuzzled him with the affection of a tiny cub toward it's mother.
"It's an old hunting trick." he told her.
"I know that." she raised her chin with pride. "The pale lion taught me that." She looked around as if she expected him to show up.
"A pale lion?.." Xan wore a look of worry that Xeriah didn't recognize. He glanced around, "Hes not around now, is he?"
"No..." Xeriah said "he left when we reach the far border... I asked him to stay with me, but he said something about a promise." she tilted her head and her ears twitched.
Xan narrowed his eyes in thought, Could it be... Is he really this close? If he is... "We have to go back."
"Xan, you know I can't go back. I'll be killed." Xeriah said, flattening her ears in fear.
"Was there anything else he said or did? What did he look like?" Xan sounded more demanding than he ever had.
Xeriah recoiled at the lion's tone, "H-he was pale, had a- uh.. light-ish mane, I guess..." she stammered out. "Oh! And these really pretty purple eyes." her eyes lit up just thinking about the pale lion.
Xan turned back to face the direction they had come, It is him... he looked back to the three young travelers then returned his gaze to the path he walked, What was your promise this time... Mlinzi...

After reading this, you might be confused about some things, but I assure you, all will unfold and piece together for you as it does in time for Xeriah herself.
