Maximus is able to notice small details that many pass as unimportant or unnecessary. He's quick at noticing and perceiving things, be it from his surroundings or from a feline itself.

As much as Maximus is a lion who keeps mostly to himself, he acts with courage and without hesitation if someone desperately needs him.

Maximus' past weighs heavily on his shoulders, by entering an empire he runs the high risk of being recognized by a hunter or a fellow gladiator. Every actions he takes must be well thought out, every turn he takes could inevitably lead him to the end; so whenever there's a situation in which he can't take control, or isn't well thought out, anxiety takes over.

As explained before, Maximus rather keep to himself than interact with others. This means he is never too keen on participating in big social gatherings, or even be in a group that would be considered "big" for him. He finds peace and tranquility in loneliness, but most of all, alone he doesn't have to pretend to be anyone he is not.

With a past like his, and now involved in an empire, he is very cautious with whom he talks, about what, and even when. He doesn't like to talk about his past and will probably try to come up with some excuse to avoid the subject completely. He too takes caution when he has to venture out of the empire's border, he wouldn't want to meet face to face with a Hunter....

As contradicting as it may seem, and considering all the choices he has made so far; Maximus is quite the family oriented feline. He loved dearly to be part of a family, he still loves every single family member he has had.

As he has always been, Maximus is obedient. He follows the rules and abides to the higher felines' orders with not much problem.

Young Maximus was one of the many cubs his parents had. They were breed to fight, they were both strong and priceless specimens, and so far every offspring they produced was treated like a treasure, except for one. Maximus was born in a litter of 4 other cubs, they all already showed sings of strength or beauty, but Maximus was too small and too fragile compared to the others. Their parents were almost disgusted with the excuse of a creature that he was, if it was up to them they would've put the little rat out of his misery, but their master had a better idea.

He took the little rascal away from them and sold him in a low price to a merchandiser, he didn't care what was going to happen to the cub, he just wanted whatever profit he could make with the little thing.
Maximus was kept as an attraction, or a pet for this merchandiser who couldn't afford anything better. But having a light pelt lion by his side, even if it was Max, called the attention of costumers. Maximus was taken care of in the most minimal way possible, he would have enough food and water to have enough energy to walk and do as his told, but other than that he was left to starve.

A few months passed by and the lion was in bad shape, he could barely stand and he looked ill, the merchandiser decided to throw him away now that he was of no use. It didn't take him long to be found by another human, a Roman man who was getting ready to set sail to a land far away from this horrid place. The man figured that the lion's pelt could be worth something seeing that the cub was not bound to survive the trip. Little did they know, there's more to the cub than that.

Max collapsed in the boat and slept for the whole ride, only one feline out of them all seemed somewhat concerned for the little cub, but there was nothing to be done. This little collapse had cost him his memory, as if his brain was trying to erase this horrible memories. and once in Masillia, he found a new life.

Light in the darkness

Life seemed great for the young lion, yes, his adoptive parents were not getting along, which caused the lion some distress, but overall it wasn't all that bad. Maximus moved through his training at a slow pace, he watched as his fellow Tribunes slowly began to become Apprentices. Maximus took his time as he felt conflicted for the most part, he didn't really agree with the teachings and believes of the Hunters, Maximus thought there was more to the empires than just "bags of meat". That is, until the empires attacked.

Young Maximus witnessed as the empires stormed into the city and acted as the savages they have always been portrayed. Hunters lives were taken, along with Tribunes; how could they? It seemed as though ever since that day everything went downhill for the Hunters. More and more Hunters began to disappear, some were lost in missions, others were captured by the empires, and other turned their backs to the Hunters. Maximus couldn't believe it, maybe that was truly all there was of the Empires; just mindless killers that must be put back in their place. Maximus used this as drive to power through his training, he was going to become the greatest hunter there ever was, he was going to live up to his father's name; but more importantly, he was going to bring these traitors back to the city.

It all turned sour when Shadow and Kleio disappeared....

Leaving

It was horrible enough that his mother, Gianna, had been captured and died shortly after her escape. Now the tigress who had birth his new siblings and brought his father joy once again, along with the leader, were missing.

Maximus knew both tigresses meant the world to his father, so watching him crumble from within broke Maximus' heart. There was nothing he could do, he felt helpless and useless. The only thing he could do was be there for all of them, for his father and his siblings; but Maximus knew it wouldn't be enough.

Close to becoming a Hunter, Maximus witnessed a drastic change in Shen. The lion watched as the tiger began to place blame in the very felines he swore to protect and defend, on the humans he served, and even on himself. Shen grew more hostile to those around him, felines he once called friends were suddenly their enemies. He blamed the Hunters so whole heartedly, it ate him alive to have to dwell among them. One night, the tiger had enough.

Maximus tried to stop Shen when the tiger decided to take matters in his own paws. Maximus reminded the larger feline that he still had his offspring’s to take care of; Jeod, Rita and Maribel needed Shen now more than ever. Maximus tried so hard to make Shen stay, but once he noticed there was no mortal way of changing the tiger's mind, Max had to make a choice. Either let his father venture alone in search of the loves of his life, or go with him.

Maximus had never felt so torn and desperate. He couldn't leave his siblings, how could he? How can Shen be so selfish and only think of him when he has kids to care for as well? How can he himself turn his back on his small siblings, who have lost so much already.

His weakness got the beast of him, his damned heart and weak spirit made Maximus finally decide, something he soon regretted....

The return of a prodigy

Maximus lived along the tigers that had once cared for the lion for what felt like an eternity. Soon Maximus realized, or felt, like he was taking up space by being here with them. The tigers were happy, they lived lives Maximus never thought were possible. The lion watched as they grew more and more close, becoming a family of their own, waiting for their very own new members. Maximus was happy for them, yes, of course, but he felt he didn't belong with them anymore.

There was nothing beyond the horizon for the lion, and even if there was, Maximus didn't know his way on his own. All this time he had grown so dependent of those around him he feared he would not make it on his own. Truth was the lion was lying to himself, he was perfectly able to venture on his own, his heart told him otherwise.

The beyond was not what called him, it was the past. The past screamed his name every night, causing the lion countless of sleepless nights. Maximus didn't have to go forward, he had to go back.

Through the months, and looking at life with different eyes, he began to understand the empires far more. In all technicality, they are leaving like the empires right now; out in the open land, fending for themselves, everyone looking after one another. Maybe he had it all wrong, what was once a thought that caused anger now gave way to understanding. He hated the empires for what they did to the hunters.....yet, the hunters do exactly the same to the empires.............where's the difference then?

At this new view of life, Maximus couldn't help but think about his family, the one he left behind. Different from the lion, the young tigers had, and probably will never, experience anything like this. They will never know what it is like to live beyond the walls, to not be in constant conflict with those around you, to finally be able to live in peace....true peace. Their futures looked dark and somber in the lion's eyes, nothing more than constant violence, blood, pain and agony; that's all the hunters ever provided...........and that's what awaited the tigers, if they have not reached the Hunter ranks yet. Something new sparked in Maximus' heart, something burning harshly and wild, he had to save them, he had to save the rest of his family. Shen was selfish and only saved one part of it, now it was up to Maximus to save those who remained trapped within the poisonous walls of the city. He will save his siblings, even if it means taking down the city brick by brick.

Maximus didn't sleep that night, he stared at the stars, almost wishing for the right answer to be presented to him. Maximus left early that morning, only managing to say goodbye to his father as this awoke along the lion and followed before Max left for good.

And so, the prodigy returned to the land of war, but this time, from the other side of the fence.

After a long journey, Maximus finally arrived at the empires. It was almost surreal, to stand out here in the open, looking over at the same terrain he did when he was a cub, but now with a different intent in mind. Maximus might have never truly been out here as he was never promoted to the Hunter ranks so he never had his mock hunt, but he knew enough to locate each empire and their borders.

Maximus knew exactly where he needed to go. He knew that this move was risky, far too risky if not executed correctly, but it was dangerous choice he was wiling to take. He needed an empire behind him, yes, but not just ANY empire. He needed strong willed warriors who will not crumble at the face of great odds, he needed warriors that are willing yo risk as much as he is.............one empire came to mind.....

-Due to his malnutrition he seems rather thin and small to what he's supposed to be at this age, yet his fur seems t cover some of it so it might not look so bad to others from a distance. On the other hand, he has been under the care of Shen for a few weeks now, so he does not look at bad as the first time these two meet.
-Its hard to see him socializing on his own, only if Shen is around he might get the courage to look around and explore.
- Due to not having been exposed to any type of care or love, he tends to get attach to whomever shows these rather quickly.
