Nice to see them feature something that actually has some artistic merit and not just because of what happened in current events. I love the simple, almost storybook style of this. The image itself is quite powerful too; well done.

Well there's almost always an alien invasion movie in the theaters. Most recent is Battle:LA i think, good movie, but it didn't really mention the world uniting so much as everyone getting their asses kicked lol.

There's also Skyline too, as who knows how many other sparsely advertised ones.

Yeah it's probable. Super-technologically advanced aliens with space warships and space-to-surface war capabilities aren't exactly being prepared for by anyone but our tinfoil hat-wearing brethren.

Now THIS truly deserves a DD. It’s a very beautiful and powerful piece

There are many places in the world that are facing hard-ships OTHER than Japan but most people didn’t seem to care that much. Of course most people are worried more about the STUFF they make in Japan (anime, manga, videogame, etc.) than Japan (and its people) itself which I find really insensitive, selfish and, most of all, disgusting.

People should help all the countries that are suffering NOT just Japan.

My school (with the help of the students) donated supply to Haiti when the earthquake hit and now were going to do the same for Japan.

After seeing so many people bashing and attacking others for "only caring about Japan," it is wonderful to come across a piece that has the message of caring about all the tragedies in the world without criticizing anyone.

Wonderful piece, with a lot of emotion, despite its simple designs. Excellent job, wonderful message, and thank you for spreading awareness without anger.

Erm, Germany hasn't been hit by the Tsunami. Not only are we inland and far away from tectonic edges, we are in europe. I think that Deviant was either joking, or wrote the wrong country.
Otherwise, Your artwork is completely gorgeous and it's one of the best messages, especially with the fact that it has all the countries.

I think it's a sweet picture, but what is that nonsense about Germany being hit the hardest by the tsunami? Haha, in case you didn't know, Germany is practically on the other side of the world, completely dry and safe My country is right next to Germany and I didn't notice any tsunamis with little wings flying across Asia and Europe and "hitting Germany the hardest". Just saying.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

hel999 In reply to Spesiria [2011-03-15 17:00:35 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I'm really not laughing much in the last days because of the catastrophic news. But this "Germany was hit the hardest" cracked me up.

Maybe it's because we shut down some nuclear power plants in face of the disaster in Japan (the hysteria about nucler energy in Germany isn't new at all but it was fed with the news and forcing the government to take action now in face of some upcoming elections). Maybe people in other parts of the world got the news wrong and think we stop those plants because we're flooded? Maybe someone below made a funny comment that was taken seriously?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Spesiria In reply to hel999 [2011-03-15 17:08:00 +0000 UTC]

I think it's the latter, haha. I'm a little baffled that people would even believe that Germany can get hit by that (or any) tsunami. I mean, I'm not a pro when it comes to topography, but I know that a tsunami in Asia can't possibly reach Europe. Ever 8I (unless they thought Germany is in Asia instead of Europe. In which case I'm even more baffled).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

Cocokun In reply to Spesiria [2011-03-15 17:20:39 +0000 UTC]

Haha. I know Europe is a continent that's safe from tsunami, but when someone says in a dire situation like this I'm led to believe it might be actually true. OTL But I have definitely learnt my lesson, so next time will not happen.

hel999 In reply to Spesiria [2011-03-15 17:20:08 +0000 UTC]

... because then you people from the Netherlands would be Asian too
Well, we could get a Tsunami if some mountain in Norway would fall/crumble into the sea. (I'm not joking, people in my country are actually discussing this possibility and want to make sure that our nuclear power plants would survive this).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

Spesiria In reply to hel999 [2011-03-15 17:41:18 +0000 UTC]

Oh wait, forget what I said. Actually did some research and it turns out we have about five nuclear power plants, three close to the sea. PANIC EVERYONE, PANIC!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

Spesiria In reply to hel999 [2011-03-15 17:33:10 +0000 UTC]

Pffft oh dear, these disasters really have people worrying about the strangest things. Here in the Netherlands everyone is relatively deadpan about the whole thing. I mean: most people are shocked, but not panicking. But I think that's because we only have one nuclear power plan, and that one is pretty far away from the sea, so...no reason for strange tsunami theories here, haha!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

Cocokun In reply to Spesiria [2011-03-15 16:46:05 +0000 UTC]

Oh, someone said so in the comments, but if what you said is true, then I'll have to update the list. I must apologize so deeply for the false news, but thanks for informing me!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

hel999 In reply to Cocokun [2011-03-15 17:14:11 +0000 UTC]

Well, in some weird way it's even true. But it wasn't our country that got hit but only our government We have quite a movement against nuclear energy and the news from Japan made people demontstrate again. Our government was put under big pressure in face of some upcoming elections to reconsider shutting down some of our old nuclear power plants (when only lately they changed a law to use them for longer time than the last government had planned). So they undid this change somehow yesterday, will turn off some old plants for three months now and investigate if they are really "safe". While the Japanese are still calm, the Germans are as hysteric as if the Tsunami had hit us

Cocokun In reply to hel999 [2011-03-15 17:27:38 +0000 UTC]

Ah I see! Thanks for informing, that summed up everything what's going in Germany. All the more better to know what's going on in other countries! And haha yea about the latter part but that's pretty understandable.

This is so beautiful and touching and has such an innocent quality.

I've seen many deviations lately about the earthquakes/tsunami disaster by other people trying to convey a similar theme, but in my opinion, have failed horribly. Mostly because they haven't had a positive nor encouraging message, that all places and people around the world should be cared for. They just seem negative, aggressive, immature and cruel...insulting and labeling people, rather than actually sending a positive message of peace. I think your piece sends that message beautifully in a truly caring, sensitive and compassionate way. Wonderful work!
