Lol this is cool. I like how you've actually acknowledged other countries and your message is clear and strong.
PS also at the time of Australias floods we also had bush fires all through Victoria.

I love that while you pray for Japan, you're also praying for all the forgotten countries in the world where people are suffering from disasters, natural or man-made. I'm an Austrailan who's fortunate enough to not be affected by the floods, but still feel for both my neigbouring states and New Zealand's recent earthquakes. Thank you. So very much.

I really like the concept here, but I don't think your art really does it justice. I like how you tried to make it look almost traditional media, but I think you made the colors a bit too drab looking-- not enough contrast, too much neutral brown. Your anatomy and poses are also a bit shoddy: some people have deformed shoulders and hips, and others seem to be leaning forward in a way that makes it seem like they are going to topple over before the tsunami even hits them.
I'm not sure if this deserves a DD. Concept is certainly worthy, but I don't think the concept can make up for the mediocre art.
(I took a look at your gallery, and your other art is better (at least technique-wise). Were you rushed?)

Heh, I always forget to read the artist's comments.
You may want to consider editing this-- the concept is really quite nice. You could probably bring up the quality considerably if you spent a bit more time tweaking it. XD

Thank you for remembering the other countries. I'm glad that someone else realizes that disasters don't just go away when the news stops covering them, or when a few months have passed.
Can I add Pakistan (flooding) and China (earthquake) to your list? Both are a few years old, but prayers are still needed.

This is beautiful, absolutely beautiful. While the style is simple, it's beautiful and represents that, even though all of these countries have been terribly hurt in one way or another, they still have their humanity.
Japan has handled the tsunamis, the earthquake and aftershocks, and the nuclear reactor situation beautifully and calmly and in an organized fashion.
Libya is fighting for their freedom under the horrible dictator, and yet even through all this chaos people of differences (financially, socially, etc.) have united together for one cause. Egypt has also done this and although not as bloody as Libya's, they're uniting into one is equally beautiful. (I see that "No to power abuse" sign!)
All the other countries that I didn't mention do the same thing: They unite together. And that's what makes us so human. I just wish that we could see this and truly open our eyes.
I am elated and feel that you really do deserve that Daily Deviation. Wear it with pride, milady.
