Words Below:
Drew loved nature. Much of his time was spent outdoors. He was not particularly strong or smart, but he seemed to know plenty about the plants and animals around him that could not be learned from mere observations. He went out of his way to be as close to nature as he could.
One night when Drew was at home sleeping, changes happened all around him. His house became two identical houses. In one house was his family who would forget all about him in the morning. In the other house was Drew. He opened his eyes but everything still felt like a dream as the changes continued.
The roof disappeared letting the moon and stars shine through. Antlers sprouted from his head which resembled tree branches. It reminded him of mythical creatures like dryads and forest nymphs. His body changed from male to female. She felt like she was giving birth to nature.
Trees sprouted inside his house, maturing in a matter of seconds. The floor turned into dirt and grass as the walls disappeared like they had never been there. Gradually, Drew understood the duplicate house had always been just forest. She just couldn't see it before.
Furniture faded more slowly, turning into rocks and other inanimate but natural objects. Animals entered her home. They were no longer afraid of Drew. In fact, they were glad to be near her. Her bed was the last thing to disappear. It turned into a bed of moss and attached itself to the nearest tree.
Drew looked all around her. She did not understand it. She did not need to understand it. She had become one with nature.
