Description
Whilst monitoring from extreme range a quantum singularity, and seeing it slowly tearing a planet apart, the survey ship detects a large object at vast distance. It despatches a shuttle to investigate - and they make a remarkable discovery - [link]This is a picture I based off an old piece of art I saw in a book ages past, but like so many things in life takes a life of its own.
Again this was a struggle - main problem was the background. To me if the background does not work, the picture does not work either. I added this planet, and the entire thing started to roll. Again, love the flare of the planet.
Not one of my best but like to hear thoughts and reactions please.

Love that background.... the asteroidal rubble and obscuring clouds of matter. Neat Trekkish influenced saucer, too. Tasty palette.

The purple stands out great againt the orange and yellow parts. The ship looks elegant, fragile and huge, like a floating city. Yet it feels evil because of the back-lighting.
I wonder about that skull-like thing, to me it's a bit distracting because it doesn't look as shiny as the other parts, but maybe that's what you wanted. Creating another contrast.
I mostly adore the background and most of all, the planet which seems to stand right before an explosion, heavily damaged.
Maybe you should do one or more pictures with just background, I'd love to see your attempt on this.

I don't which is better. The first one is concentrated on the ships, and this one is concentrated on the background.
