Description
USS Edson (DD-946) is a Forrest Sherman-class destroyer built for the US Navy in 1958 and served from 1958 until 1988

The ship saw considerable service in Vietnam and in Cold War operations and by the time of her retirement she was the last all gun destroyer in the US fleet. In 1990 the ship would become a museum in New York City and after the events of 9/11 and the collapse of the world trade towers she was used as a headquarters due to the powerful radio systems onboard.

Despite the newfound fame the ship was returned to the navy in 2004 and would sit in the navy yards until 2012 when the Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum got the ship in order to make it a museum. She is now open as a museum in Bay City, Michigan.

I visited in June really enjoyed my time aboard. amazing displays and friendly staff.
