This is the King of the Dead from Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
2.5x3.5 Watercolor, Acrylic & White Colored Pencil on Arches Hot Press Watercolor paper.
I have to admit, the one I did for Masterpieces just wasn't what I would have like to put out there, but since I got on board the job so late in the game, there wasn't much time to do much more than embellished pencil sketches.

this is just a fantastic piece. very life-like, well dead-like...Very close to how i actually saw him in my head, i'm still on the fence about the movie version because it fades in and out from skeletal like this to green skinned human.

This is great! He looks almost exactly like the depiction in the films. I might have liked to see his beard look a little more ethereal, aka a bit more blended, but that's the only tiny thing that wasn't perfect.

He is very old, considering that he retreated into the mountain during the first war against Sauron and didn't re-emerge till Aragorn went into the mountain at the end of Return of the King. That was a few thousand years? *shrugs*
