Dang it I really wanted to try not to snug up against the deadline this year.... THERE WERE FACTORS ASIDE FROM MY OWN PROCRASTINATION THIS TIME I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW. >8[Hhhhh, ah well.
Merry Christmas, crown-rachel ! I am your Secret SoAnta! (<--you see what I did there?
)You gave me a lot of freedom with this one! And you supplied so many great ideas, but the one that really struck me this time round was the BFF relationship between Aika and Fina. So I decided to explore that room of theirs on board the Little Jack. You know, the one you can never go in? Because you control avatar Vyse, who is a boy, and thus not allowed in? Lucky you, you get to sleep on a hammock in the clunky old engine room instead.
For those less familiar with this milieu, Captain Drachma converted this storage room on his ship into a bedroom for these two girls. Aika, the red-haired one, is rather boisterous, and her hair is usually up in these wild, Pippy-Longstocking-type braids. Fina, the blonde, is very, ah, foreign, and very demure, but she does take to learning new things quite well. And so I'm betting this was a very probable offscreen happening, where Aika introduces Fina to the wonderful world of braiding.

This is really great! It’s a wonder I didn’t see it sooner. Yeah, the Little Jack sure seemed to have quite a few nooks and rooms for the size of the thing. Poor Vyse and the engine. He should've slept out on the deck! But maybe some critters might have come along while he was snoozing.
I see how you laid out the girls’ clothes in the foreground. 
I wonder if they had any pillow fights? Could you see Fina doing that though? Then again, maybe Drachma would’ve had a fit!

Heh yeah I was trying to make it look at least a little bit like a lived-in space, so I thought their daywear would be a nice touch to add. Ha but I hadn't thought about role-reversing! Good point!
Oh my gosh, I can just see their faces if Drachma walked in on that!
And for some reason the very next thing I imagine is the spinning, shattering battle screen....

I'll never quite understand why this is, but it seems that no matter what it is you're drawing, it has such an enchanting quality about it that I HAVE to look at it. I may not even know what it is you're drawing from, but I just HAVE to look at it. From the thumbnail, your art exudes some kind of magical glow that I can't explain. I get such a calming, tranquil sensation from looking at this and numerous other pieces of yours. Maybe it sounds silly, but I thought you might want to know that when I say your art is magical, I mean that in the most literal sense of the word.
...That being said, I'm assuming this is from that Skies of Arcadia game you have mentioned a few times now, yes? Though I know nothing about the game, I always love to look at your fan art of it. The lighting in this is so gentle and atmospheric. Very, very lovely.

Oh my gosh, Vin.... I don't even know what -- how do I even respond to that? It makes me feel like some magical creature like a fairy or some wood sprite just doing things I do, and then Vin the Human sees me and, what just all agape and entranced at like the sparkles or fairy dust I leave behind? Things to me which are familiar with just a little grinding.... Oh Vin that is just.... the most lovely thing to hear. That something I make exudes a kind of magic for you. Truly.

Heh, I know everybody's got his own things to do and his own time to manage.... but I just.... still can never keep myself from madly recommending this game to like everyone I ever meet in my life ever. I even got Flurrin to put this Skies of Arcadia playthrough on her Youtube watch later list.
Which.... yeah, I totally just dropped that mention of it in hopes that you would click on it BUT AGAIN.... I respect that everybody's got plenty full plates of their own already.
Vin you are just the kindest, most dear person on here.... I know we don't even interact as much as we used to, but.... gosh I'm just glad you're here.

believe it or not, I actually did look up and watch pieces of the playthrough you sent me! i was very curious about it after seeing some of your art, haha. while i'm not much into the rpg-style of gaming, it looked very interesting and engaging, and artistically it had a very unique look. you're absolutely right when you mentioned the game looking vibrant. the characters seemed quite charming as well!
so while I may never play it for myself, thank you for sharing those videos! i definitely enjoyed watching them and thinking of you the whole time, haha.

i totally get the whole sick thing! i got my wisdom teeth out right before christmas (and of course i had already waited until before christmas to start) so it took me over a week until i was feeling well enough to get it done lol.
