Description This guys is a pretty complex dude.
Every body knows that the Playboy, Womanizing
Bruce Wayne is an act. That playful rambunctious Bruce before his parents were killed doesn't exist anymore so he never grew to become that kind of man. Vengeance and hatred pretty much took it's place. So His whole life after that point was consumed by getting back at the people who reminds him of his tragic past.
So he prepares himself because he knows that going after such men was inevitable. He defeats his greatest childhood fear by becoming it and "Batman" is the result. So I feel the masked mysterious man of vengeance who wants to strike fear in the hearts of man is the real Bruce Wayne. But this again is my opinion. What do you guys think?....

I agree that batman has a jaded personality, but I wouldn't frame him as vengeful and full of hate. He likes to protect people, because he sees himself and his past emotions in the victims and he's decided to make helping them his life's work. If it was all about vengeance he wouldn't stick to the "no killing" rule so adamantly. I dunno. I watched Under the Red Hood the other day so maybe that's where my thoughts are coming from.Β
Anyways, excellent work! I love seeing your style and thought process!

Absolutely. Most people are really confused because they think vengeance must be fueled by hate. But it isn't. It's fueled by compassion. No doubt about it, a twisted sort of compassion, but that's why he does it. To prevent anyone else from suffering the way he did.

I think the comics even address this at some point, though I can't remember which one (a fairly recent one, though). When Superman grabs Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth and is asked who he really is, he says he's "Kal El." When Batman grabs it and is asked the same question, he says he's "Batman." Not "Bruce Wayne." Batman. Because in his own mind, he's not Bruce Wayne. The real Bruce Wayne died with his parents the night they were shot in front of his young, innocent face. The "Bruce Wayne" he plays as now is the actual mask -the facade- while Batman is his true identity.Β

You are right. It's been established for a while now that Bruce Wayne is an identity he's left behind (I don't think he's dead... just lost in the distant past). Now he's Batman. And, if you think about it, he would HAVE to BE Batman... because if he were Bruce Wayne, then that would mean Bruce Wayne is crazy. And he's not. Not in any way that we can judge. Batman is the real identity -- Bruce Wayne is a mask.

The way I see it, Batman is the real identity while Bruce Wayne is the mask. He IS Batman, and he'll always see himself as Batman even as he passes his legacy onto Dick and Terry.

I feel like he almost has three personalities. He has Batman, which is the one he's in most often, all growls, no jokes (seriously, the Joker's his archenemy) and completely serious. His whole purpose is to no out there and make sure that no other eight year old goes without parents because of "some punk with a gun". It is his whole driving purpose, and the reason he is who he is today.Β

Then he has Bruce Wayne. Not serious at all, only out to have fun, and enough money for himself and the whole world. (I've always imagined that in his head he'd have to think of himself in third person, so he wouldn't accidentally slip up and say "me" or "I" when referring to Batman as Bruce Wayneβ€”or vice versa) Though, it's a given of course that he's not an idiot playboy, the Bat can't allow for that sort of frippery.Β

Finally, there's Bruce. Just Bruce, no cameras, no costume. He gets to just be himself. I feel like this version of him is the truest, a mixture of the other two. He is still serious and kinda grumpy, paranoid and suspicious, and also very guarded concerning his feelings; like Batman. But, like Bruce Wayne, he has a heart, and genuinely cares about people, ESPECIALLY his family and friends. I'd also like to think that having to grow up so quickly and abruptly made him end up as sort of childish ("No Alfred, I don't need to eat, I'm Batman." "Batman doesn't need sleep!" "It's too late in the morning for this, let me sleep!")Β

That's just my take on him though, and him being my favorite hero ... Wow. This is gonna be a long post. I really like the portrayal however, even if neither one is really him! (Again, it's just my opinion, you got Batman AND Bruce Wayne perfect! Though, I would say the real challenge would be drawing Bruce. Just Bruce.)

I do love it, draw more!!

This is very close to how I picture Batman when I am not being informed by a particular comic book artist (or the Bruce Timm animated version). Though I never pictured Wayne in a turtleneck, I do think it works.

Mostly true, though Bruce has become more important in recent years as he gets more involved in philanthropy. And I like to think that Bruce is less inspired by anger and hate and more by the desire to make sure no one else suffers as he has. Especially since there are heroes who have far more violent back stories, like Wolverine, Hulk, even, arguably, Flash.

I agree. He basically uses "Bruce Wayne" as a means of supporting Batman. Be that in gaining information or keeping Batman funded, Bruce is almost another tool off of Batman's utility belt. Very nice art too!

I always assumed that it was like that. I think the "Divided we Fall" storyline supported that; I mean Bruce without the Bat was kinda nuts because he was that anger and desired for revenge without an outlet

Oh wow, I love this. Almost too much, actually. Everything about the way Bruce is standing is so smug and arrogant, and even though it's just an act, he's definitely pulling it off well. And of course, the Bat's pose is supremely badass.

Awesome work!

Awesome. Batman is the greatest being ever created, oh how i wish he was real....He uses Bruce Wayne as his alterego, Bruce is a character he made up and acts out. He made Mr. Wayne the total opposite of himself to throw off people from figuring out his secret identity. He is so deep and conflicted! It doesn't make him any less attractive though.

Yeah, you nailed it pretty damn well For people who don't read comics, it's sometimes easy to forget that Batman is the real person, not Bruce, 'cause Batman wears the mask, while Bruce is out in the open. So the Batman mask is actually more natural than Bruce's face.

Wow, I SO did not mean to compare Batman to Rorschach
