I like the glow effects.
I can't even use colored pencils.

The glow in the chest and eyes are edited with Adobe Fireworks (for enhanced brightness), but the rest was gel pen and colored pencil.

The trick with glowy effects is to get some gel pens for the brightest layers of light, and then use lighter and darker shades of colored pencil around that for the desired effect.
