'X' meaning the tenth running of this train. In unkind weather, 'The Great Britain' passes Ocean Siding, Laira, on May 6, 2017 (unlike 2020, a year of steam). My regulars will no doubt realise that this is a favourite location of mine.

The leading engine is Bulleid 'West Country' pacific No. 34046 Braunton. However, it is running in the guise of No. 34052 Lord Dowding, a 'Battle of Britain' class locomotive withdrawn in 1967 and cut up in 1968.

The second engine, almost hidden under the steam, is the famous Royal Scot, No. 46100.

The train returned east from Penzance the next day.
