Interesting! Would that have been the sub's actual water line?

Yes but I think she was closed recently owing to water ingress which gave her a list.

Oh, well it doesn't sound good for a sub to sink with guests aboard.
Well, sink without the ballast tanks being filled intentionally.

"Were there people aboard?"
"No"
"How many people were involved in the accident?"
"None, it never happened."
"Was it government property?"
"Yes, ask Vladamir Putin about it"
"Was the property inspected?"
"Of course it was, we look at it every day."
Hmm, you know what, I've been working on a model series of Thunderbirds done in the classic style (but with no budget), and that might make a decent plot.

Yep, currently I have a story in mind involving a fully restored space shuttle that is fueled up with rocket fuel that respond to electrical signals (somehow) that gets stranded in space. Good use of all the machines in that one since the boosters and fuel tank end up in the ocean, it takes off and lands on a runway, and it goes into space.

It's more or less small, slightly bigger but with more detail, and largest with nice landing gear.
