This is an amazing picture! The facial expression captures the two face of one being the oppressor (outer self) and the oppressed (inner self).

Agree w hidalgo. Morality art where the mode is morally questionable for majority of Americans. True art that challenges and awakens.

I would like to have this on my (and many others') wall and watch it before even try to babble and complain. I guess everyone at one time or another had been guilty of this, which is good when we took a stand and keep going but mostly we just pity ourselves when in this mood.
Anyway, it's a great detail the hand on the wall and the whole atmosphere just add strength to the feeling. Even the light bulb, its bright doesn't is too much but as an allegory looks perfect, as a hope over our heads that we usually don't look at.
Fantastic job.

true...so very, very true...we can be our own worst enemies, and sometimes the worst swords in our hearts are the ones we forge.
i can hear the screaming and insults said, and they're ones we've told our ownselves over and over and over.

As usual, I love your concept work with yourself as the repeated model.
Mild criticism--the skull looks extremely plastic, which is distracting in such a detail-oriented piece. Real bone that's been out and about is very dull (I have a legitimate human skull on my mantle, which I'd loan you if we weren't states apart).
The two expressions here are great--close to over-the-top, but not quite there. They really convey the crushing reality of self-criticism well. Thanks so much for sharing. Love it.

Oh, thank you very much! It's a very personal piece to me. I was hoping it 'spoke' to others as well...

I like this, believe it or not, it reminds me of the book "The Sheltering Sky". It suggests to me the internal struggle we all have. Love/Hate, Peace/War, Angel/Devil. Things like this intrigue me, not too many people have the ability to look into themselves and resolve to find balance. Beautiful piece.

This is a totally awesome work....and the lesson it teaches profound. It is sad that we let ourselves shackle our creativity with fears of what OTHERS might thing and worries about our self worth. Life is too short to let these things interfer with the pursuit of a true dream. LOVE this!!!

Thank you for saying that - and thank you very much for continuing to create. I love creativity and the way people do it.
I'll see what I can do to add my nude self to more images in the future. It has to be meaningful, or it's just vulgarity, I think. LOL - I'm not that well built or visually stunning (in my own mind) to warrant artistic nudity for its own sake.

I am a fan of this photo for a number of reasons; The allegory is quite relatable for so many people making it truly accessable. The symbolism of the inverted cross and overturned cup are very powerful. Your horizon line looks very equal with the wire casing running the length of the photo as well as the uniform highlight from your light source. This in addition to your "mad" cloning skills really make this a wonderful piece. I also like the fact that you used yourself in the spirit of the title and explanation. Well done, sir.

Truer words were never spoken. And I have to say this: I fucking love your feet.
As for this work...I really dig the way the title is worked into the bricks, and all the symbolism of the table items. Not sure what they symbolize, but I know they symbolize something. And the faint scarring on the floor to your (nude self) left? Intriguing. Looks like an odd cross or X with testicles.

LOL - Thank you - I had quite a few iterations of my nude self that didn't have my feet the way I wanted them - this was the best of the very large bunch. I'm very glad they made you happy - most appreciated.
Yes, there is symbolism and metaphor in this piece that I didn't want to outright explain, because it will mean something to me, and something else to you. I *know* that you had some sort of feeling about the piece and the images within it, the words on the wall, the overbearing, yelling person directing his ire at a nude, shrinking form. All the while a metal, empty cup is overturned with a crucifix turned upside down is away from the nude man's view. It may have stirred up some sort of feelings within you as a creator of - whatever you create.
That mark on the floor is a stylized bone - there's a ring of them on the floor, and I don't know why. Almost like a protective circle. I may take advantage of them sometime in another piece....
I really appreciate the time you took to comment on this, again, thank you.
