To be honest, I'm a cat person...BUT Ruger has definitely changed my whole view on dogs. He's amazing.

It all depends on the cat's personality. My cat is very much a companion and our prior indoor cat was much the same. If you show them affection, they do come looking for it, much like dogs.
In fact, we call our cat Sneeps a little puppy because he comes out and peruses under the dinner table while we eat supper.
He and Ruger get along really well too. They play together actually, and when it gets too much Sneeps lets him know by batting his nose (Sneeps is fully declawed so it's pretty cute to watch.) It's all in training. Although some breeds I'm sure are specifically a no no with small animals and children...
