Something a little off to me though, is the place the shadow is. The lighting seems it would bring it at a different angle. I don't really see anything else you could improve, this is REALLY amazing! ^^

I felt pretty sketchy about the cast shadow as well. I knew there had to be one, but I didn't know where. I need to do a little more studying on that.

I love it! After I had a look at the neatly-drawn lion my gaze shifted to the trees in the bottom left corner! I love how you added mist to spread in front of some of them. Heheh, I'm faving this. ^_^

I looked this up based on Orca Owls recommendation, and Wow, I'm impressed.
The breezed-ruffled fur, ears and condensed breath creates a soft motion, perfect for pre-sunrise quiet. The large expanse of blue sky going to black creates depth which draws the eye in, following the lion's gaze. The flat coloring of the lion give the character a out-of-scene effect, as though he moves on a different plane than the surroundings, which do have some shadowing.
