Description My caracal Mangu is a great hunter. Her favorite prey is birds, especially guineafowl, so her most practiced hunting method is jumping straight into the air to catch a bird in flight. Here it looks like she missed, but that's only because I didn't feel like drawing a bird. Normally she'd catch one.

I made her a slightly darker gold than she was before. And don't you just love crazy, abstracted, textured backgrounds? I know I do. It saves me from having to actually draw something back there, but tends to look better than a solid color or simple gradient.

Textures are from [link] and , and possibly one or two other sources. I really should keep track of these things, but once I download a brush I tend to forget exactly from whence it came.

Ohhh, yes yes. That's part of why I always fail at drawing servals. Proportion fail. XP

haha, well, there seems to be alot that would be difficult with servals. Like, anything with spots must be hard to keep organized. But yeah, that head is astonishingly small, but if you look at alot of pictures it doesn't look this small. I dunno if this one is a freak, or if its a trick of the camera that other pics look more proportionate because they focus on the head more than the body.... hm....

Perhaps the big ears create the illusion of a tiny head. But then the wikipedia article says that they're heads are supposed to be small in proportion to their bodies.

Oh, don't even get me started on spots.

lookit that head! Its itty-bitty! [link]

actually, I swear there's a similar species that really has a teeny head, but I can't recall... I will go sort through mammalogy lecture slides until I locate them!

It's sort of small in a house cat way. Still basically proportionate to the rest of the body, unlike that serval, lol. XD

Hmm, my spell check doesn't believe in servals. It thinks they're servile... or serial... lulz.

I kinda love the pose. The picture looks awesome! But I've always wondered what caracal is... I haven't found it in any dictionary.
