So there comes a time when one of your characters get so neglected and unused, so very uninteresting to your mind, that you only have two choices left for it: Scrap or revamp it completely.I have troubles giving up characters, especially such an old one as this, (and honestly I couldn't ever escape it considering this account is named after her) so I naturally I decided to remake it.
Ratty was once a normal rat doing normal ratty things, when one day they got horribly mutated after staying a little too long in the magical forest of Whatthehell.
It turned them into a freaky, mutant thing with the mind of a small child. They also gained the ability to grow into a huge, hulking creature with a tendency to eat everything and everyone. Ratty does not appear to have any control over this power, seeming to change at random.

This design looks less anthropomorphic and furry-like, and more cute and original in an "ugly-cute" way. I really like how her snout and forearms look.

Thanks! That's what I was going for, less anthro, more mutant-like. And the ugly too, yes. I tend to find a lot of more appeal in "ugly" features than in cute and perfect ones, they are often what makes a design interesting.

I love looking at your old stuff with your new. I feel like, back then, you took yourself too seriously, and now, you're like; "Hey, like my stuff or don't." It's quite refreshing.

Haha, yeah, pretty much that. Back then I was.... uuh... honestly, "a teenager" might just be the best description here.
The magical forest of Whatthehell was named after the first couple of words uttered by a the famous explorer who first discovered it. He also known for naming Ohshit, the haunted woods, and the beautiful jungle of Aaaahspiderspiderseverywhere.

You're style certainly has changed, I'll give you that! I like her/ it's new design! I know what you mean about changing your characters appearances. Mine went from animal to human to animal to human and then back lol.

Thanks! Yeah I do like the character concept, and I didn't want to part with this character after such a long time, but it was so terribly executed, godmod-y and fursona-y that if I wanted to keep this, I needed to give it an extreme redesign and drop all associations with me.
Yeah, it's good to mess with the design and ideas and rethink them once in a while. I'll most likely do some with some other old characters in the future, too.

Playing with the design is a great thing. I like my current character's appearence so much that I've left it alone for about a year now, almost 2 years pretty soon.
