Chapter 1
POV of Cheif Third-person view
Minor blood; still appropriate

Cheif races on the edges of the cliff. He hopes he doesn't make a wrong move, and slip down, down, down... That was a terrifying thought. He had to push on.
He carried with him a rabbit in his mouth, he could taste the tang of its blood in his mouth. He looks behind him when he hears the wolves howling, as if they had realized he had stolen their rabbit. He looks forward again, and strives to run faster.
He sees his could breathe as he pants heavily. His strong, sharp legs curl and then stretch backward almost as long as his spine. Cheif suddenly skids to a stop when there is a wooden bridge in front of him. He gulps, and thinks about this before stepping onto the crumbling structure.
Cheif hears the wolves' howls from behind him, his right ear flicks toward the noisemakers. He inhales briskly, and then exhales, stepping onto the bridge, only wishing for luck.
Carefully, he continues to step on the wooden pieces. As his left hind leg steps off a piece, it crumbles. Chief looks down... Its a long way down. There seems to be some endless cavern below. Cheif shakes his head, and keeps moving forward, seemingly forgetting about his hunters.
Cheif gasps and looks behind him when he hears the wolves' coming. Howling as they go. Stunned, he steps forward on a weak piece of wood, and falls down.
Silently, he is writing his farewell to everyone he knew. He didn't know anyone, not even his parents. He hoped he didn't die alone as he falls down... Down, farther and farther, the rabbit still in his gaping mouth.

Cheif must have fainted before even landing from anxiety. He grunts, sitting up. He is at the bottom of the cavern, although he had no injuries. Not even minor injuries.

"Ngh..." Cheif grunts. He hears something, and looks up. He sees a brown figure that sprints out of his sight.
"W-wait! Hold on!" Cheif shouts, quickly picking up the rabbit and racing towards the figure. He stops when there is a maze in front of him, starting with a fork in the road.
    He sighs, dropping the rabbit.
Cheif starts to eat, but notices that the creature's tracks led down the middle path. Cheif wants to finish his lucky piece of prey he almost died for before chasing after whoever or whatever the creature was.

****

When he finishes, he starts by following its path. There is too much wind resistance for wind to enter the cavern, so the tracks were easy to follow. Even gathering a scent wasn't hard for this lynx. Cheif continues following the tracks.
Eventually, they lead to some snowy ramp. The snow must have come from an avalanche. Cheif shrugs his shoulders, climbing up the steep snow. His feet are feeling quite numb from his previous run, so the snow on his pads didn't help in any way. Cheif still continues.
Continuing on his wild goose chase, Cheif notices that there is some type of spiraled mountain, which is perfect for any gaping caves for something to live in. Cheif shakes his head, and races up to the top.
When he finally gets there, his pads are bleeding a little. The snow underfoot has small smears of blood. It is all worth it. To make himself more presentable, Cheif cleans himself, and then licks the remaining blood off of his lips. He also fixes up his pads, licking them clean, hoping that he doesn't wince too much.
He steps in. The cave is very open, with small cavern accessories. In the middle of the cave section, there are dreamcatchers hanging from the ceiling for some type of decoration. Whatever the creature, they weren't rabid beasts like those wolves. Cheif notes this, but continues, calling as he goes.

"Uhh, hello? Anyone in here?" Cheif calls. He doesn't get a reply. "I-I think I should be thank you. You're the one that saved me, right?" Still, no reply is answering Cheif.
    Cheif pauses, waiting.

He hears a snort. "Ugh, what is it?"
The voice is female, for sure.
"D-Did you save me, miss?" Cheif asks.
    "Yes, why?" The voice answers.
"I wanted to say thank you..." Cheif blurts.
"If you wanted to say thank you, the least you could have done was given me that rabbit your risked your life for," the voice points out. Cheif sighs in annoyance.
"I guess a thank you in person wasn't good enough!" Cheif retorts.
    Silence.
"Why did you save me, anyway?" Cheif asks.
    Still silence. Chief coughs.
"Because... I just... Look, when I see somebody in need of saving, I don't even think about it when I help them out," the voice answers. Outs steps a beautiful she-cat, with silky fur.
Cheif blinks. He isn't attracted by this, as he is a bobcat.
"Now, kid, I recommend you find somewhere else to live. These parts are full of terrible mistakes," she replies.
Cheif shakes my head and looks down at his paws. "I-I can't. I can't go anywhere else, ma'am."
    "And why not?" She asks.
"Because... Because I have nowhere else to go. My parents are..." Cheif stammers.
"Your parents are where?" She asks, rolling her eyes.
"They're in the big mountain in the sky," I answer, looking up into her eyes. She flinches.
    "O-Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mea--" She starts.
"No, please don't analogize. It's my fault for coming here," Cheif interjects, standing up and turning.
"W-Wait!" She shouts. I turn to look at her.
"Look, I'm lonely... Forget everything offensive that I've said. What's your name, child?" She asks.
"Cheif, Cheif the Bobcat," he answers. "What's yours?"
    Silence.
"I-I don't talk about myself much," she stammers.
"Oh, please! You said you were lonely!" Cheif laughs.
"Fine... My name's Dreamcatcher," she answers.
"Nice to meet you! I guess that would explain the dreamcatchers just lying around..." Cheif mumbles.
    "What was that??" Dreamcatcher snaps.
    "Nothing!" Cheif laughs.

    They both smile.

"Hey... How about I be your mentor? I haven't had someone to talk to in awhile, and it looks as if you don't really know what you're doing here," Dreamcatcher suggests.
Cheif gasps in surprise. "Really?! Why, of course! I've never really had any parents, you'd be the mother I never had!" Cheif exclaims, overjoyed to hear that someone actually cares about him and his presence.
Dreamcatcher nods. Probably musing to herself silently.
Cheif smiles gleefully. He only hoped for the best.
