Description
This is fan art of the game Mother 3. It is a compilation of the memories that may run through Lucas's mind when he sees Claus's face again after 3 years of never seeing him. (This occurs in the final battle.) It could be considered a continuation of my previous work, found here: [link]P.S.: I didn't realize until I was re-playing Mother 3 recently, but I drew the twins in clothes in the fire scene. Their clothes were actually off to dry at that time, since they were in the river. Woops!

Yes, that's what I intended with that... It's so sad what happens once he sets out to fight the Mechadrago. He wanted to settle the anger he had about his mother dying, but he was not ready for that battle. Then of course, that leads to Porky getting his hands on him. Definitely a sad twist of fate.

Ohhhh my god, seriously, some of these you pulled off so well. Especially the one where they're hiding behind the rockface - it took me a second to work it out, and I basically went from :0 to "Oh dear" to ;n;

I knowww, the story of these brothers is just so sad. ;o; That's part of why I enjoy drawing interpretations of moments in their lives; they are so emotional in nature.

The moment when the helmet falls off and you finally see Claus' face again just... completely broke me. I had to put down the controller and just sob for a good five minutes because it was so heartbreaking. "Claus' face... looked just like Lucas'." Cue me crying like a baby. ._. I never had any game/book/etc make me break down on the spot like that.
This picture makes me want to start crying again because I imagined the same thing as I played: Lucas recalling all of the memories he shared with his twin, from the silly ones to the serious ones. I think the fact that he never gave up even as their mother's words initially had no effect on (still brainwashed) Claus really goes to show how much Lucas matured during the game. At least Claus was able to be with his twin one more time before he finally went on to be with their mother.
...aww man sorry for the huge comment, but this picture just made me think back to the ending and everything going on. :< Wonderful, wonderful work.

Yes, I totally cried at that part of the game too. ;^; It's very true that Lucas matures in the game so much, and it is definitely shown in the final battle as you said. I'm glad to hear that my drawing is similar to the kind of thing you thought of when you played. c:

I think a big part of his development also dealt with him learning to deal with the loss of both his mother and his brother. At least he was able to give Claus a proper farewell in the end, right? ;_;

That is also a very large portion of it, for sure. I remember thinking when I first played, "Wow, only chapter 1 and already 2 main characters have died? How will the others handle this?" But yea, he did get to talk to him as Claus rather than the Masked Man one last time. So sad... Itoi has a talent for making stories that really pull at your heart.

Itoi is definitely a creative genius, but he does have that knack for breaking the hearts of the people who play his games. A lot. XD Mother 3 just... I've cried in games before (like the ending of Okami) but not like this. Especially when you think about how cheerful and talkative Claus was before THAT happened to him. And how he apologises to his dad at the very end... I'm going to make myself upset again if I keep this up.
I'm new to the Mother series myself, so it's nice to talk about it with others. XD

Haha, that is very true. Yea, I never cried so much from a video game as I did during the ending of Mother 3. Ahh, his last words were so sad... Porky's shenanigans really broke their family's peacefulness and their happy life together. That's what makes me mad about it all. I totally expected Flint to go beat Porky up, but I guess he was too wiped out emotionally.

At the same time, though, I think Porky is such a great villain. The fact that he still has a child's mind locked inside his body makes him even scarier because he doesn't have the same thought processes as an adult mind would. He's quite fun. X3 Evil, but fun.
I'm glad that I've been able to meet so many cool people in the Mother fandom already, too.

That is very true. I certainly got some scary vibes while playing through Mother 3 as I learned more about his involvement in everything. He's merely a child psychologically, but then he has all this power. He chooses to do some crazy things with it, such as creating chimeras and building his creepy carnival city. He is definitely a unique villain.

I'm not a member of Starmen.net, but I've seen a lot of great comics and fanart on sites like Pixiv and Gelbooru. My Mother fanart folder on my computer's already grown huge. XD

Ohh I see, well that's good! Have you checked out the comics "Harmony" and "Memoria" by Gekko and meedee? They're pretty awesome. "Harmony" is set some time after Mother 2, starring Tracy and Picky. "Memoria" has a bunch of original characters in a time after the events of Mother 3, with appearances by the main party of M3.
