Description Fakemon for 's fakemon contest.

Drawn by, you know him, you love him: and coloured/shazammed by .

The idea behind our pokemon was to create a scientific back story behind how pokemon came to be, a solid one that didn't just spout from: Arceus made all the pokemon. Live with it! We based it on the general diversity and evolution of species by Charles Darwin, and I threw in some stuff from Biology. We also wanted to rotate it around Pokerus, and give it a reason for existing and why pokemon became infected with it. And so, without further stalling, we present to you, Luca (Last Universal Common
Ancestor).

Here are the concepts behind the Luca and the primary drawings by [link]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Origin Species: Luca

Luca is an origin species of pokemon and is a basic prokaryote type single cell bacteria organism. Scientists propose Luca is the most primitive life form of pokemon dating back millions of years; it has been suggested, due to the DNA plasmid transfer ability of bacteria of this life form, that Luca based every pokemon discovered to date, seemingly, all pokemon have evolved (in a physical sense) from this simple pokemon.

While all pokemon have all evolved, Luca is unique in that it still exists in its original form today. It is responsible for the disease known as pokerus and results in a gene splicing effect from pokemon to pokemon. Simply put, pokemon that suffer pokerus ascertain certain genetic features from the host they were infected by, usually unnoticeable without genetic screening, but over thousands of years leads to unnatural evolution; in essence, it is a disease that causes unwanted and unnecessary evolution amongst pokemon.

Luca: Present day form

Today Luca is much more advanced; gone have their reliance on the wind, it has been replaced by a psychic field in which all Luca communicate; it gives them the ability to glide across thought currents and communicate as one single mind – presenting elements of present day swarm pokemon such as beedrill- a close ancestor of the Luca.

From what we have learnt of the pokerus virus, which is little, we have determined with one thing, and that is that it is a result of the Luca. Luca provides pokemon with pokerus to allow their bodies to deal and accept the foreign DNA samples entering and bonding with their bodies. This advancement has seen the organism evolve from a prokaryotic cell into a karyotic cell through natural evolution and swapping of plasmids, which is considered an astonishing biological feet. The scale of the Luca swarm is undetermined; their size is microscopic (about 1-2µm in diameter and 10 µm long), even at swarm level. Our best estimate is that there are over sixty two billion Luca on planet earth today.

Luca: Crystalline matrix form: last common ancestor

Its origin is unknown, but from this primitive cell spawned all known genetic evolution in pokemon to date. Confined to the wind, the spore form of Luca were breathed in by prehistoric pokemon, and, upon digestion were able to swap plasmid DNA with the pokemon they were invading and then exiting the pokemon’s body completely unharmed due to its physic field and move onto the next pokemon to continue its DNA transfer.

Main adaptations to note here is the inclusion of the streamlined body to aid movement within wind currents and tentacles to aid DNA transfer between pokemon. It contains a distinct positive and negative plasma pole creating its physic field which later develops into its swarm projection.

Luca has only two attacks, transfer (which it uses to 'swap' DNA) and rapid magnification, which increases its stats by X10.

Enjoy :3

Also, points to anyone who can tell us what famous Pokemon saying 'Yohm' industries is an anagram of.

And some tech brushes I used by this awesome guy: must be accounted for! Thanks!
