Description

The Ruthennaskay Imperátorskaya Armiya is the military branch of the Zsardom of Ruthenna that primarily operates in the numerous planets of the galaxy. The Ruthennan Imperial Army is often cited as not only being the largest branch of the Ruthennan military but also the largest planetary army in the whole galaxy. The Zsardom often relies on numerical superiority combined with brute firepower to best the armies of other nations on the battlefield yet they won’t hesitate to release experimental and dangerous weapons onto the field. The sight of genetic abominations, radioactive emitters, or other forbidden weaponry have sent many foreign soldiers fleeing before the might of Ruthenna. This image contains several  basic unit types in the Ruthennan Imperial Army.

Ruthennan Lineynaya Pekhota are the basic grunts that make up the backbone of any Ruthennin army. They’re drilled and trained for a variety of basic combat formations and basic weaponry such as laser rifles and grenades. Lineynaya Pekhota are often deployed en masse to hold down vital positions on the battlefield until more mobile units sweep forward. Should they be on the offense, they are thrown en waves at the enemy lines in forward assaults, supported by a myriad of other units and artillery to overwhelm the enemy lines. Though Lineynaya Pekhota are trained to fight in line formations against hostile fauna, the name is mostly indicative as they utilize basic skirmishing tactics against any conventional foe.

Ruthennan Shturmovaya Pekhota are a common variant of line infantry equipped and trained to handle close ranged engagements. Often equipped with some combat armor and rapid firing beamer rifles, Shturmovaya Pekhota are often deployed alongside regular line infantry to assist in taking enemy positions, often when fighting through trenches or structures.

Ruthennan Grenaderskij form the basic elite infantry regiments of an army, having access to heavier weaponry, basic combat cybernetics or improved combat armor that comes with their prestige. Sourced from the strongest, bravest and tallest of the line infantry, Grenadiers undergo rigorous and grueling training and discipline exercises to produce highly disciplined and robust shock infantry capable of smashing through heavily fortified positions without fear.

Ruthennan Saper are combat engineers primarily tasked with constructing and repairing fortifications and vital infrastructure. Saper are equipped with a myriad of tools to conduct their role properly along with a basic rifle or pistol for self defense. It's often said that every regiment must contain a small detachment of sappers for it to succeed in a campaign.

The Narodnoe Opolcheniye refer to regiments of irregular infantry hastily conscripted from a world’s citizenry to fight in a defensive war against any foreign invaders. Unlike most other militia regiments raised from other nations, Opolcheniye are often sent alongside regular army units to repel invaders from not just their homeworlds but from all of Ruthenna. Though they’re often poorly equipped and barely trained, their numbers and determination to serve the motherland is all they need to halt any invading army in its tracks.

There’s an old saying often quoted from a Swechian general. “The lord favors the side with the greatest artillery.” This saying still holds up true today as artillery still plays a prominent role on the battlefield. Ruthennian Artilleriyskiy Raschet (Artillery crews) are trained in manning the various types of medium to long ranged howitzers. Due to being stationed far away from the actual battle, Artilleriyskiy Raschet are typically armed with light energy arms such as pistols and are often issued no protective armor.

Ruthennan Okhotnik are basic skirmisher infantry who serve as highly trained snipers or forward scouts for any Ruthennan army. These units are often selected from their sharpshooting abilities along with their abilities to survive in the wild. Okhotnik units equip themselves with sniper rifles, hunting knives and other survival gear, and camo uniforms to blend in with their surrounding environments. Their survival skills and tactical gear enables them to conduct operations deep within enemy territory or to aid any advancing army by picking off important targets such as officers or howitzer crews.

In an era of energy warfare, Armored vehicles now either rely on speed and maneuverability to avoid destruction or attempt to stick to tradition by slapping on as much armor, guns, and energy shielding to break enemy fronts. In the case of their vehicle being disabled, tanker crews are often issued light arms for self defense. Tankovyy Ekipazh (Tanker crew) is a term for vehicle operators of the Ruthennan Imperial Army whose tank doctrine relies on simple and cheap, but reliable tank swarms to overwhelm their enemies.

Though the majority of Kozak tribes prefer to keep among themselves and see little interest in participating in galactic affairs, many of their members seek greater adventure and glory by joining the Ruthennan Imperial Army. Kozaks are often natural born beast riders or hardened survivalists and thus are prized units for many Ruthennan commanders. Yet despite their effectiveness in combat, Kozak units are often difficult for many commanders to handle thanks to their unique cultures and resistances towards overbearing authority.

Ruthennan Kirasir are elite heavy cavalry units infamous for their famed feats of courage and combat and riding skills. Their role is simple yet deadly when improperly countered, to charge and break the enemy lines in a massive fierce charge. Kirasir are equipped with a variety of ranged and melee weapons and can be mounted on a beast or driving a motorbike. They are often given personal shield packs to increase their survivability along with their standard  issued armor and helmet.

Ruthennan Pekhotnyy Ofitser (Infantry officers) are often lower ranking COs who are assigned to personally oversee the operations of and to command a small organization of troops on the battlefield. Though some more chivalrous or foolish officers may seek personal fame and glory in the heat of battle through charging the enemy lines alongside their men, those that tend to survive usually are the ones ordering their men around behind the safety of fortifications away from the inferno. Due to their importance on the battlefield, field officers are often equipped with personal energy shield devices or protective body armor to increase their survivability on the battlefield.

Though feared or respected by many grunts, the Ruthennan Komissar serves to enforce military and political discipline on any regiment they’re attached to. These political officers are often seen taking command over basic infantry units, executing traitors or those deemed cowardly, and acting as advisors for military officers on occasions. While a few zealots may abuse their powers to forcefully impose ideological beliefs or commit unnecessary executions, most Komissars, despite their stern demeanor, are often inspiring leaders who lead by example and care for the morale and safety of their comrades.
