Description My first ever scratchboard. I colored it with gouache, not sure if that's okay to use on it, oh well. Was lots of fun to do, can't wait to do more.

Scratchboard is definitely my favorite art tool. 8D Not sure if you love it as much as me, but it's cool, isn't it? ^^

Anyway, I never thought to color my scratchboard with another tool. o.o Just me being too content with two colors, I guess. XD But this piece really is lovely; I feel almost entranced by the raven's eyes, and the detail on the top-corner furling-swirls is wonderful. Carving out all those tree branches must have been interesting too, so many strokes so close to each other! Excellent work~

Thank you so much! This was my first time using scratchboard (besides those cheap paper ones for kids). I definitely plan on doing more because they are a lot of fun!

Also I agree with the storybook quality - it feels like an illustration for a children's book or something similar. I keep wanting to put text in the middle XD

I did the raven and knew I wanted to sort of have the trees weave into it but wasn't sure what to do beneath the trees.

Thank you! Overall I'm happy with it, especially since it was only a 5x7, though I do think the bottom I could have done a little more with.
