Description Back in 1986 Craft House came out with a ThunderCats Poster Pen set that featured two 14 x 20 B&W ThunderCats posters and 6 different colored pens. I'm not sure if these were widely distributed but I don't see them come up very often on the internet. Sorry about the scan but I had to do it in two pieces and combine them together because the original was too large to copy all at once. If there is enough interest I will post the other one.

This was before Wilykit was added to the cast I am assuming. As much as I revere this iconic image, I always miss seeing her with her twin.

Awesome! I've seen these back in the 80's. Please, post the other one. This is great Thundercat old school stuff.

I have never seen this before. It even has Kat as having two stripes! In review of the outfits, this has to be based off Mike Germakian's copper outfits design. This is wonderful!

I understand the scanning struggle. I used to have to scan in and stitch the posters. I finally had the chance to buy an Epson workforce large format scanner (on clearance) so I could finish scanning in comic page art as whole pages.

Yes, the very early stuff that came out was usually based on early design art.

The scanner that I have can scan original comic book artwork because itΒ has an 11 x 17 scanning area. But when I run into something like this that is even bigger than that then I have trouble. It's like the artist that did the color cover to my book 'A Pack of Trouble' (which is in my gallery), he did it in such a huge size that I could not find anyone that could do an entire scan of it. He finally found a place in NYC that could do it.

Wonderful to hear on your scanner size availability. The large format scanners/printers are godsends. It is neat to hear there is a place that can scan this in. It's not like you're doing it for mass sales. It is to keep a good record of its existence.

No, I am definitely not doing it for mass sales. Mainly I am doing it in memory of my friend Leonard Starr who was the head writer and uncredited co-creator of the show. He passed away last year.

I remember. I posted the news of Mr. Starr's passing on ThunderCatsNOW (Instagram and Facebook profiles).

I wish there were like buttons here on DA, because I would like your statement. Β

Thank you for passing the news around about Leonard's passing. There are a lot of fans of the show who are unaware of his contribution to the series. If he hadn't been so heavily involved in it, the show would be vastly different and probably totally forgotten by most people.

Glad to do it.

Yes, I was one of those fans who had been so unaware of Mr. Starr's involvement, along with Mike Germakian's work. This is why it is so important to preserve and share such things. I just don't know how to make the powers that be, let along the fans, understand that an Art of ThunderCats book needs to happen.

Yes an Art of ThunderCats book is long overdue.

Every time I got my allowance I bought a set and used my own markers on them. This brings back a lot of fond memories....

Believe it or not I've had this set since it first came out and just opened it the other day so I could scan the posters. I'm glad that you used your own markers, they didn't give a very big selection of colors with the set.

No the set didn't give much of a choice, on the poster board I used colored pencils and on the paper poster I used the markers. I wish they were still sold, I'd buy one just for the nostalgia.Β

I prefer to work with colored pencils myself. It's been so long since I purchased this that I can't even remember how much it originally cost. Hopefully less than $10.

I think it was about $6 or $7

I'm sure an uncolored set would sell for more than that now.

Whoa. This art piece Craft House did looks just like the original Mike Germakian promo art.

It wasn't unusual for them to have someone else copy the work of another artist to use in the merchandising market. My friend Leonard drew a map of Third Earth which was later redrawn by someone else and used in a magazine.

I like how in France the show was known as CosmoCats.
