Art trade withHope you like it as much as I enjoyed drawing it
because as you can see stuff got out of my hands again!
Now, when you requested your characters in a fantasy setting my mind was immediately going wild with ideas! Ah the possibilities!
I figured I'd make Shadow and awesome knight in a stunning armor ... and then went "HALT" because if someone needs to be damsel-saving kick-ass warrior - it should be Lanyse !
Shadow can be a cool mage instead! Who of course knows his way with a sword too! gosh now I wanna draw him and Lanyse in a badass fight scene
Troller gave me some trouble though - I hope you like my interpretation of him, for I'm not sure I pulled it off right... his face was hard...
but I imagine him as this sweet kid with cute freckles and messy hair.
So here's how I see it ... Shadow is a mage in a royal palace and I think Troller could be his slightly clumsy but adorable assistant, who causes his mentor gray hair
with his shenanigans and struggles with his studies. He would befriend a maid in the palace, Mindy, and the two would go on about adventures and she would help Troller learn his craft and find his place. Lanyse would naturally be the captain of the royal guard, involuntarily having to cooperate with Shadow in regular basis. The two of course don't get along but have high respect towards one another and constantly struggle keeping their cool and hide the forever growing affection...

Since this piece is really great and it stands out quite a lot, I'm going to focus on the things that might be improved. Note that I really think this is a great piece and I like it a lot
Here are the things that could be fixed:
1: Shape division - When I look at the palm of the lady in the red armour I feel its value and colour is too close to the value and hue of the man's trousers. When I'm not zoomed there is impression of merging the shapes together and it is not quite clear where the palm ends and where the trousers start - a good idea would be to eiter decrease or increase the overall value of either of objects.
2: Tangents: Not many people know what a tangent is but there is a clear one between beltbuckle and the end of the sword handle. Easy way to fix is just to move the buckle lower or sword handle higher
3: Background - Having a low-detailed background is completely ok. Still there are some rules to that. If the background is not detailed it shouldn't catch the attention. Every sharp edge you put on canvas drags attention a lot. The shape of tower should be just put in (no rendering, no details, maybe just a bit of value variation or some brush work). As for the coulds - they are ok, if maybe a little too dark (too close to the values of the foreground and the tower).
4: Atmospheric effects: Consider adding those: Light rays, floating dust, smoke - don't over-do that but a gentle touch of some special effects changes a lot

Hello! I saw your piece in ProjectComment.
This looks like a great illustration for a story book about fantastical adventurers. This one reminds me of Dragon's Crown for whatever reason. It must be the staff the mage has. It also gives me the vibe of those classic roleplaying games, like Dungeons and Dragons.
The colors are vibrant, giving it an uplifting heroic mood to the piece. I like your use of shading and highlighting to imply the different textures and patterns in the image, especially for the parts that are a shiny metallic. The poses are very full of character, telling me the viewer of what their role is in this story. You have the dynamic knight/fighter, the calm and wise mage, the young maiden, and the young rough and tough adventurer who wants to be a hero someday.
There are a few things I think need to be improved here to make it better. While the characters in the foreground are full of life with details, the background seems to be lacking. The castle seems flat compared to the rest of the piece, and the clouds look like they could use more blending and detail work. The foreground looks detailed and crisp, while the background seems rushed and unfinished. I think it would look better if the background had more definition to add some interest to the piece. I would probably suggest blending or blurring the castle into a vignette. Also, there are some spots where the lineart seem a little messy compared to other areas. So I am a little confused if the lineart was meant to seem more sketchy or if it was meant to be more clean. Maybe that's just me being nitpicky.
Overall, I think it's a fantastic piece with a lively adventure squad. Keep up the good work.

I totally admit that the background is bad XD I got very lazy with it! After coloring the characters I didn't have more energy to give to the background
so it's a bit of a fart! And I run out of ideas too.

Troller looks great, smiling as always and with that rebel hair! Mindy is cute, but with an air of not being as quiet as she seems.
Shadow and Lanyse are awesome! You captured their personality to perfection!

Viren does have a similar color scheme I admit - but it was Shadow's bot design hat was my inspiration.

And amaya I was referencing to Lanyse. yeah, she doesn't really have resemblance to amaya at all. I kind of meant the shield and warrior look reminded me of amaya. not so much that she looked like her, if that makes any sense?
