you know, i love your journals and photos of the beautiful people, cos it's such an enticing glimpse into a world i'll probably never know.
but your spontaneous snapshots like this show how much you deserve to be where you are. you're not just some bunny who got a lucky break, you are truly talented and deserve everything you get. except the dickheads who can't handle the f*bomb lol.
you are awesome.

I know you have a squillion comments and probably don't need to hear it again,
But I really appriciate a photograph with good grain.
Its truely beautiful.
The lack of focus only brings out the seediness of being that drunk, and the moment is perfectly captured.
Fantastic table too.

A power photograph, Most of us when we have something on our minds that wonβt shake loose easily usually turn to drink as a temporary fix. Itβs been a while since Iβve seen someone out of it like that guy; it could be anything, Death of relative, money problems, anything. But soon enough the fix turns from temporary to permanent and thatβs when heβll spiral down into his own hell.
Or it could just be his birthday and he overdid it, powerful image that says so much nevertheless.

Sad, and recognizable. Which is maybe sad too.
Good shot, anyway. Really conveys the despair and deafeat.

The blur makes it all. Like if yourself are also a little bit out of state... it gives a proximity and a feeling of sharing to a photo that could be just voyeurism is totally sharp... I feel sad looking at it, and I feel empathy

I forget his name but I remember some NYC photographer doing a whole series on this kinda stuff. I think he did it specifically on the old Bowery Bar culture.

i much prefer pubs, for the same reason, good food drinks and good friends.
oh i've seen this image on many occations and many different places. it seems like they're so sad. yet they're so taken back from the beer they were drinking. very nice shot.

one of the reasons why i would consider moving to the UK. a friend of mine described a beautiful one the other day, something i think you would enjoy though i don't know you, had comfy chairs & couches, friendly bartenders, and a fireplace. i would spend every friday night there, taking photos as well, actually.
i think LA is too much of a club sceen. though i would enjoy LA i'm more of a Pub fan.

nice, delta400 handles quite well when pushed surprisingly. How far have you pushed it?
I've been in clubs doing shoots with delta3200/neopan1600 on f/1.7 on my yashica and the quality is ace for such low lighting.
Nice one Chris, the blur from the 1/8th kinda adds to the fact that.... your in a club.

cweeks In reply to trailstar [2005-11-23 19:45:35 +0000 UTC]
i'll go 1600 with it. that's about the top of what i'll shoot. i have one-four and one-oh glass so ... i don't need 3200 or 6400 or 12800.
i like the blur.
goes along with the feeling.

deffo. I dunno, i was drunk... and the few extra stops helped haha.
i dont even think my eos5 can handle 12800. Thats nuts!
