Another beautiful shot! Fav+!
Just wondering. Do you get a lot are attitudes and angry people when taking shots with out asking..? I have done some shots in the city and I have been yelled and generally get bad attitudes... When I do go and ask for permission the the shot is no longer natural and pretty much useless..
How do you handle this?

This shot totally captures that which is public transportation. The DOF allows you to understand the overall environment, while your focused subject says everything you want this photograph to say.

good Stuff Chris! Can't wait to see more

So is it byebye film or am I committing blasphemy

coxi In reply to cweeks [2009-09-09 19:01:52 +0000 UTC]

just watched it !

who wrote ALL this about streetphotography !! you must really love that genre haha.. and that M9 you bastard

it looks very slick. i must say, i love the slowmo on the escalator haha... it's really cool to watch !

is the jesus in pt 3 ? or the china market ? loved these two

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

cweeks In reply to coxi [2009-09-09 19:26:06 +0000 UTC]

again, thank you so much. i think you did some of the best video work, too, man.

i kinda like it.

honestly, i did it because the two most popular videos out there are fucking horrible. google joel meyerowitz and street photography. the jeff mermelstein one is good but ... not what i wanted. this ... is what i wanted to do.

the next one is about dogs.

there was a bit more escalator stuff but my editor-editor (i was just the editor) ... cut it. he called it "cutting wood out" and "tightening."

jesus is either at the end of part 2 or the start of 3. i'm making you a dvd ... the footage is rendering.

should be done when i'm ... back in 4 hours.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

coxi In reply to cweeks [2009-09-09 19:33:22 +0000 UTC]

hah.. filming was fun. especially in downtown ! i know you could have made this twice as long... but not everyone is SO into it.. so tightening is good in the end.

that china markted 12mm was awesome though.. would be cool if you put it on the DVD too... can't wait to see it on a beamer on full HD

forget about meyerowitz... he's a joke.. (witz = joke in german - lol)

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

cweeks In reply to coxi [2009-09-09 20:03:30 +0000 UTC]

it was a blast. not everyone ...

i think it was the best whole sequence, honestly.

can't wait to send you the dvd, man.

meyerowitz is a witz. so it's meyero-joke. so apropos.

Why is ISO 1600 so special? My D700 can handle it without problems...

cweeks In reply to kmetjurec [2009-09-09 18:14:25 +0000 UTC]

as much as i love the d700 it's not quite a rangefinder, mate.

Sure sure I know. Different world.

But with full frame sensor, ISO 1600 is nothing new today.

cweeks In reply to kmetjurec [2009-09-09 18:54:58 +0000 UTC]

you said it best yourself, "...different world."

it's easy to put a ff sensor in a dslr; no one's done it with a little rangefinder.

kmetjurec In reply to coxi [2009-09-09 18:27:21 +0000 UTC]

Yes I know. New stuff to dream about

I just don't understand why there is a need to talk about ISO 1600. With full frame sensor and "just" 18 MP (enough for me), it would be strange not to provide almost noise free photos @ 1600.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

coxi In reply to kmetjurec [2009-09-09 19:03:22 +0000 UTC]

well.. if it doesn't matter anymore.. why go for 400. it's just more comfortable shooting a 50mm on 250th instead of a 60th in a subway.. and on the other hand, i guess it was taken at night, so i'd leave the camera on 1600 anyway.

1600 ISO! Holy Fuck.

Does it perform well any higher than that? Did leica provide you with the lens, or was it already in your collection. I vaguely remember you talking about it on an uber blog
