Gah... It's past 5am... I just had to finish this thing before I left to Atlanta... But I'm happy ^-^.I got to experiment! Sometimes I think that part of drawing is my favorite. Especially when it turns out so well! (in my mind anyways)
Ok... so the actual anatomy of this pic is a bit lacking... Some things are just... off... But! I don't really care because what I wanted to accomplish was this new coloring technique! Haha!
I spent the last couple of days making the background paper texture... A technique I stole by watching Jipsy create her cool watercolor droplet trees... 16 layers of drops... paint then dry... paint then dry... etc. The goal was to use the texture to create a colorful piece of work. Hooha! The paper worked so nicely too. It actually made it easier to color. With texture you don't have to be so... exact.
And it was a nice change of pace for my perfectionist self. I was attempting to not only make a colorful piece but to let go of some of my exacting habits and let the raw sketch shine through. I think it worked!

OH! The background is hand painted watercolor droplets. The girl is a pencil sketch. And both were scanned into Photoshop and digitally painted over.

Great job, I love the colors and the costume. Do you have any tips on how to stop over analyzing things, so I can get some of the stuff I'm doing off the drawing board and onto my gallery?

... stop over analyzing things... That's a hard one. It's different for everyone...
I recently had babies in the last two years and now most of my time is not my own. I found my old way of drawing (perfecting, perfecting, perfecting) was getting me no where. There just isn't enough time. So I had a choice. Share what I can manage to do, or leave my sketches gathering dust on the table. My husband, bless him, said that even if I don't think it's perfect, someone out there will appreciate it.
So... POST IT! Even if it's not exactly the way you want it. Then celebrate in the parts of the drawing that are accomplishments to you and keep working on the parts that nag at you.
Ugh... Does that make sense? I feel wierd giving advice...
