Description 1. Spooky Space Kook

*just play the cold opening of the episode*

Positives:

This is easily the most dark and atmospheric episode of the original series and has the most unique setting among them all with the abandoned almost Cold War-esque air field that looks very post apocalyptic and grey in design with the gang themselves being the only vibrant colors on screen and thus brings about a Haunting feel to the episode that is further amplified by its main monster...

And the Space Kook is forever acknowledged as a standout villain and one of the few that is genuinely chilling and frightening to come into contact with. His design is superbly unique with the glowing blue Space suit and the freaky Skull head inside the helmet that flickers bright red when it lets out its unforgettable bone chilling Cackle that I'm sure scared many young kids back then and maybe still to this day! Pair all that up with his unknown origins and the lack of suspects besides the one on edge farmer which brings the slight possibility of its legitimacy and you have one truly memorable and terrifying Scooby-Doo Villain that is forever iconic!

And this episode also features one of the best Gags of the show with Shaggy and Scooby locking themselves in one of the airfield buildings to keep safe from the Kook and throwing the key out the window. And then once the Kook gets in, they jump out the window to get the key, jump back into the room to unlock the door and then escape when they could have escaped the chance they jumped out the window.

And this is one instance where I have no notable flaws to mention with this episode as it really is a flawless episode.

Final Thoughts:

What can I really say, this episode is just a masterpiece. Everything from the Gags to the Mystery to the setting to especially The Space Kook are all on point and make this one of the best in the eyes of fans and for me, it is my number one favorite episode of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!

And here is joshvirgin's final say in this countdown.....

Hey Again Here Is My Review Of The Scooby Doo Episode “Spooky Space Kook” Enjoy.
m.youtube.com/watch?v=XmIqA_DX…
“Zoinks! It’s Scooby Doo And Cyber And JV Too.”
“Spooky Space Kook.” I Might As Well Just Say This Episode Is A Masterpiece And Leave It There. In Fact Good Night Every Body.
Okay I’m Kidding. Let’s Actually Talk About It. “Spooky Space Kook” Is Easily One Of The Most Memorable Classic Scooby Episodes Mostly For It’s Title Monster The Space Kook. A Blue Astronaut Suited Uhh Alien Thing With A Skull For A Face And A Helmet That Lights Up Red When He Cackles. Wild Stuff. Mystery Inc. Encounters It Moments After An Ornery Farmer (Who Sort Of Reminds Me Of Eustace From “Courage The Cowardly Dog.”) Refers To Him As “It.” An Alleged Ghostly Space Man That’s Flown Around In A Broken Down Space Craft Near An Airfield And Left Behind Glowing Foot Prints. He Frequently Terrorizes The Gang As They Venture Through The Airfield Often Made Known Thanks To His Distinct Cackle. The Episode Has A Good Spooky Atmosphere Thanks Largely To The Abandoned Airfield Location As Well As The Villain. Like Most Episodes There’s Some Thing To Be Said About How The Gang’s Out Fits Make Them Stand Out From Their Gothic Settings. The Space Kook Him Self And His Creepy Appearance Are The Obvious Highlight. If He Were A Real Monster In The Show I Think There Could Be Some Good Lore To Be Had As To Who Or What He Is. Is He An Astronaut Ghost Or The Ghost Of An Alien That Died On Earth? I’m So Curious. Well Inevitably Like Most Villains He’s Another Greedy Old Man In This Case Henry Bascombe The Farmer’s Neighbor. He Found Out The Nearby Airfield Was Reopening So He Intended To Use The Space Kook Disguise To Fabricate A Haunting And Buy The Air Force Base Cheap. He’s Also The First Villain To Give The Meddling Kids Line. Sort Of. Funny Thing About This Mystery Is That Shaggy And Scooby In Two Instances Find Two Bits Of Evidence That Their Space Kook Isn’t All That He Seems To Be. Let It Never Be Said That Shaggy And Scooby Are Totally Useless. Speaking Of The Duo They Have Easily The Funniest Bit In Which They Try Keeping Out The Space Kook And Scooby Gets Rid Of The Key By Throwing It Out The Window Only For The Ghoul To Get In And They Jump Out The Window To Get The Key Back To Let Them Selves Out. Makes Perfect Sense To Me. “Spooky Space Kook” Is All Around A Classic Scooby Episode And Maybe The Second After “Foul Play In Funland” To Implement Sci Fi Elements Into The Series. The Title Villain Is Easily The Most Popular Of The Lot To The Point Of Appearing In Future Scooby Media And Merchandise. I Give This Episode A 5/5.
What Do You Think?
