I have to agree, seems the new costume creators are mostly only creating "flat" heels though. And the few boots with high heels tend to have other issues. *sigh*

Flat shoes are comfortable, practical, easier to store and maintain, but they're also so BORING. And we have the world of cartoons and CGI to makes things interesting and of course SEXY. At least that's my opinion

I have worn fairly high heeled engineer boots for most of my life, and lets not forget generations of cowboys (and cowgirls) and their high-heeled riding boots, none of us especially had problems with heels once we got used to them - even on the worst terrain - so IMHO saying they are practical is just lazy talk.

That wasn't really the intention, just trying to provide more incentive to play with them. When I'm rendering I often end up trying to convert flats into high-heels or find a high-heel alternative to the flats.

Yeah the trading heels can be tricky, you have to find a base boot that doesn't have a low-heel or has one you can hide. Trading out boots altogether can lead to other difficulties: for instance a scene I've been working on I noticed that the cowboy-style boots I'd picked for one character had odd protrusions sticking out near the toes, I couldn't figure out how to fix it so I ended up trying to find other boots: I discovered that I don't have a lot of calf-length boots that aren't basically flats. When I finally found a pair of boots I could use they wouldn't fit the pants: the pants were poking through the boots: so I had to find different pants. By the time I was done I'd changed the whole bottom half of the characters outfit. Not sure what the deal with the original boots was either. They look great in the promos but they were less great in-scene for me.

What about the entire posture of the character? The entire body behaves differently in high heels, not only the calves. I imagine it must take a lot of work and it's just "change the flats to heels", right? Writing can sometimes be easier to execute

I might have mentioned that I've spent most of my life wearing 2+ inch heeled engineer boots. Sure the posture changes, so does your sense of distance from the ground etc, but you get used to it. Millions of cowbodys and cowgirls have over the centuries. So IMHO it's a matter of practice. The people who never really wear heels have trouble with them because they have no practice, those of us who do have practice find the opposite more disconcerting.

Yeah if I understood correctly we both appreciated girls in heels and I was trying to explain that they aren't as crazy as they seem to people who are used to wearing them. Not much more needs to be said.
