I love this one. It combines two things I enjoy looking at: maps and ships.

Me too! I started designing a whole book about a ship passing thought different maps. Got distracted by other projects, but its still on the To Do list

Well, art takes a lot of time. If you're planning on posting the book in the future, I'll look forward to seeing it.

What a cool technique! not easy to do I guess but with really great results. You're very good at mixing medium. I'm admirative because I'm absolutely unable to think of surrealist ideas like this. And I like the minimalism of lot of them like this one.

Thanks.
One of the reasons i enjoy doing images like this is actually because of how easy it is to do. I do cheat a little, as you can see in some of the 'Edge of the map' pictures. I Photocopy handmade paper (in this case banana paper) at different colour strengths and with different paper over the top. I can then use that base to create a series of images by adding boats, water, clouds ..... whatever.
as for the ideas i simply love maps and boats in places they shouldn't be. I've never really thought of them as surrealist, but i guess they are a little haha

Ahah! for sure I haven't comment on an example of surrealism so it seems very inappropriate, but through your gallery I have seen some, I think ^^
You're picture don't seem always so simple but if you say so.
Nevertheless, your art is cool !
