So i finally finished the wave!! Yay !!Its been done for a week really, just waiting for me to finish of the last couple of cuts and take photos. It took around 9 hours in the end (less then i was expecting which was nice), and 6 knife blades. Paper is some .... blue ... light weight card i had knocking about.
The inspiration for this was my weeks holiday at surf school. Where i learnt that i can't surf, and weaves are really good at beating you up and kicking you in the face when your down.

i hadn't really thought of it as a particular wave, so even a particular style! I think I just needed it out of my system after spending a week being beaten up by them !! Haha

All the more a bonus when your rendering sparks a recognition in your viewers.Β For me, I thought of this famous Japanese painting "Great Wave Off Kanagawa by Katsushika.Β Great work and it turned out excellent thus its in my Favorites.Β Β Β Β Β

Beautiful picture, I can see where you draw the comparisons between the two works. I have seen a few traditional Japanese paintings of waves, but not this one. Thanks for showing me

I'm almost tempted to get a set of punches for all those circles. Nowt more maddening than trying to get a tiny circle looking right with a scalpel (and it's still analog

i would have trust me XP only reason i didn't was that most of the holes where smaller then my hole punch and lots of different sizes.

Looks interesting. would deffinatly save me time!! although i'd want to test it before buying one. Luckly the link reminded me that i own a fabric punch for putting eyelets into cloths. so i can try that and see wether it is worth getting one just for paper.

woaa! its so cool! you actually get to know the waves, they are a very special part of the ocean, they teach you some interesting things about yourself. Dont give up with the surfing <3!

I haven't given up yet .... It did take me 6 days just to stand up haha but i got there eventualy! But surfing in the UK does not sound fun, so I'll wait for my next holiday to try again I think.Β
