Hahaha it's mostly the paint I use over talent.Β
I use Ecoline liquid watercolours. They are like inks, I find it hard to get watercolours to look as strong as I want them when using pans, and I'm just not much of a fan of tubes. Liquid watercolours have a very strong pigment and are real easy to work with. They can be expensive, and I have to buy them online (the only place I have found them in a shop was in Brussles), but I love them.

Haha sorry XP
there are two main types of watercolour that are easy to find in shops. Pan's which are the little solid blocks, and tubes which come in a tube like toothpaste.Β
I used a more unusual type liquids made by a company called ecoline. They are more expansive generally, but I find them much brighter and easier to use.Β

You can create great art with the cheapest of equipment. It's not the price of the tools that make the artist, it's the person using them.Β

wow the details are amazing!! what kind of paper is this and what do you use to cut it???? I want to try it!
π: 0 β©: 1
daegfire In reply to AzureKate [2014-09-11 20:19:14 +0000 UTC]
Personally I don't think paper matters too much. Yeah some are eaisier or harder, but I don't have a specific brand I used or anything. Think it was about 120mg, stretched and painted with watercolour.Β
I use a 10A blade to cut, and a standard swann-Morton handle.Β

Excellent! Once you've gotten the basics it's all just practice and developing a callus on your finger to stop the knife from hurting your hand haha. Β

AzureKate In reply to daegfire [2014-09-29 23:33:01 +0000 UTC]
ah i havent had a problem with that yet. i was holding the xacto knife the same way i do a pencil or pen and i write a lot so i already have calluses on those fingers. which probably helps a lot i assume.

daegfire In reply to AzureKate [2014-10-01 01:19:12 +0000 UTC]
Then I do workshops the biggest complaint I hear is that the knife is hurting peoples fingers. There are loads of different knife handles that attempt to make it more comfortable. But I've decided the only this that really helps is calluses XP hahaha if I stop cutting for a few weeks and loose them it hurts all over again.Β
