I spoke with the author and she said the armor is organic.

Chest Of Souls 1-9: The core of the story concerns Talon and Brenna. This set of 9 follows Bren and Tal from childhood to adulthood and the battle for the souls of men. The secondary characters take on a life of their own, the Ancients are awakening, all characters are pushed to their breaking point.

Prequels 1-4: (Currently working on) Will explore the 5 Ancients, their reign, and the betrayal that cost them everything.

The Sequels 10-(?): The author will address the loose ends from book 9. (Love stories, epic battles, friendships, etc.)

It's a breastplate.
Mostly for defense. The Lady of the Sea prefers to cut through water quickly to reach her prey. She mostly uses fast arm movements or her mind to attack her enemy.

Ah, I see. Because as lovely as it looks, there is a bit of an issue with complete conforming armor. If it is made of metal, movement would be impossible for her. If it is some form of organic/magical substance, as you stated in the other reply, then that would be something else if it is not rigid like metal.
However, when I first saw it, I instantly remembered this post addressing why armored shaped as that could actually be hazardous to the lady wearing it: [link]
I've also worn armor before and I know several who wear/have worn plate armor. It's uncomfortable enough being generally shaped to the human form, regardless of material. I cant imagine having to attempt to wear armor that appears to be almost a second skin.

We needed to give Soline something sleek and attractive that could cut through the water, but be very tough at the same time. And like I said, the answer will be in the prequels to this series.

I looked at several knights/armor books and I'm fascinated with the stuff.
But I do understand what you mean by female shaped armor. It wouldn't work so well in real life.

Luckily Soline's armor is very different. It can fit to her form, breathes, allows her full range movement, and looks good.

Ah, I see. I just see the breast/ab/every muscle-conforming armor so much and it just boggles me. But if it is a magical substance that can allow such movement and still be protective, I reckon that can work.

I will have to check out the series when I look at my local bookstore.

We live in a farming community too. So we have to drive to the next town to get to the library.
