This isn't really supposed to represent an actual scene, but instead more of something like a model diorama. Maybe something like this could be 3d printed some day, who knows.

The tentacles didn't cut the metal, the Laughing Swarm have many different blade devices. And that's just for when they're already on board.
But really, it doesn't really matter much, when the constitute hull plating can just be teleported to the Mirror. It can be made of adamant-bullshitium, it's still going to get sent to another universe. sorrrryyy. :v

The Mirror is another frame of reference. The humans and their creations typically use it to travel at extremely high multiples of the speed of light. 'Traditional' FTL travel is just simply too slow to move around the universe, after all.
To get there, you have to break physics, either in a safe way (through the use of Gates) or in unsafe ways (by detonating Gates and/or mirror warheads).
Those hellish detonations are mirror warheads encapsulating a section of space and in effect, teleporting it into the mirror. The larger burst is a mirror gate being overwritten, and collapsing all the surrounding space. Both are single direction options to access the Mirror. You can't use a warhead to escape from it, and obviously when your own gate has collapsed, you're not going to be doing much with your ship after that.

Didnt realize tentacle skirts were part of the combat outfit. T__T Now I have more reasons to run and hide.

Heheh, this is actually closer to how I imagined the Bonesuit organisms to be. Artificially durable exterior, that looks similar to leather or latex or something... but the inside surface is a horrifying collection of meat and organs.
I've been experimenting with the organic clothing for a little while now. It's a nice blend of terror and appealing design, I think.

I remember seeing it on sherodan before, I like it with the bonesuit as well, it really does give it that organic feel.
You should be happy, your coloring skills stand out to me allot, go forth and make more creepy things colorfull and eye candy like
