Just for my education: what is so Mac-ish about this wallpaper? (I happen to use 1024x768 resolution on both of my Intel PCs β the Linux desktop and the Windows laptop.)

Macs desktop have icons on the right side while PCs have it on the left (commonly). So unless you arrange your icons a certain way, Lee would be covered by these icons if you us it on a PC. The layout is optimized for a Mac.

Ah, I see. I don't have so many icons so after trying it out most of them came between the left margin and the character; but I have since then rearranged them in the top left and right corners so they show up in "negative space" on all the 20 pictures I use on my "virtual desktops" with kde. (See them on my shoutboard [link] . Those that aren't "wallpaper-shaped" I display centered, rescaled if necessary, with more or less matching color flats on both sides.)
