I really like the colour of the shade and light in this one. Nice thoughtful facial expression, too.

I really like the colours, textures and shadows on his face.
From what you say there seems to be a great diversity of digital painting tools that mimic the effect of actual brushes.
I don't remember whether you used to do some traditional painting? or only traditional coloured pencils?

The range of brushes in Painter is enormous! I can chose among 20 to 30 varieties each of oil brushes, airbrushes, pencils, charcoals, Gouache, Impesto, watercolour, ink, pastels, etc. I didn't even scratch the tip of the iceberg yet.
I never used brushes in traditional painting. That's why I sometimes have to lookΒ in a dictionary to know what Painter is offering me . I always was horrible with brushes, never could colour in between the lines. Even my teacher in elementary school said that I'm useless at painting (ha! if she could see me now! )
